I'm sure I've seen a thread on this topic but can't locate it.

Flying out of LAX at 23:40 (VA24) but checkout of hotel is 11:00. A gratis late checkout would likely only give us a couple of extra hours.

Which LAX airport hotels have day rates past 6pm? We will have lounge access, but I am assuming check-in for flight at ~3 +/-hours, so probably 7 hours required for room.

Doesn't HHonors Diamond give 4pm check-out?

If you really want a hotel, I know the Hilton LAX does day rates for around $80-100. Look online by setting the check-out date the same as the check-in date, and it'll show you day use rates. I think the Hilton was 7 or 8pm check out last time I did this (Was $84 inc tax last time I had a room).

I believe other properties near the airport offer similarly. Personally, i'd head down to Santa Monica for lunch, wander around, maybe go down to Venice Beach, then return after a light dinner to LAX around 8pm or so.

I am not currently staying at a Hilton property, so kick out 11.00am or later if I can get late checkout.

The Hilton LAX airport states day rate 9am-5pm, but I think I'll just phone them and see if they can accommodate a later time.

They definitely did 7 or 8pm for me as a Diamond, so hopefully they can extend the same courtesy to you :)

It's not a particularly nice hotel (It's huge) but the exec rooms are comfortable and renovated at least.

Could you look to book a cheap hotel for the night and check-in at 12:00noon and then check-out at 8:00pm?

I have done this in HKG. Also allowed to check-in early and we checked out at ~7:00pm.

Stayed at Travelodge LAX on two occasions to break up flight. Old motel style but clean and comfortable. Helpful desk staff. Only complaint was that we had to wait quite a while for the hotel bus on the first occasion.

Bus handy to take you to Manhattan Beach for lunch/dinner.

The 4Points Sheraton did the 24 hour check in..........as long as you prebooked. You could check in at any time and you paid the rate for 24 hours from check in. It was slightly pricey but it worked well because I was arriving on an afternoon flight. It is near LAX but offers the shuttle (I think it stops elsewhere first).

Hotel by LAX | Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles Airport

I still don't know why more hotels don't offer this service.........

We stayed here on arrival ex QF15 from BNE at 0630. Picked up a rental car first then checked in at 0800, had a shower, got a few hours sleep then drove up to Santa Monica mid-arvo & had dinner there.

The minimum rate to get the 24/24 rate was USD119.00 p/nt & they ask for 48 hours advance notice.

We had an early departure the next day so it suited us & guest parking is complimentary.

We also found it handy on departure from LAX eg flying in from Vegas early evening on a Tue with an evening departure on QF16 Wed night.

I know this topic has been resolved, but as others have said, Hilton LAX have no problem offering late checkouts to Diamonds on a Day rate. When I was there last, I had CD pick me up at 8pm....the good old days!

Have stayed there as well, dated but clean and cheerful, Dennys (with bar) attached.

I have stayed there a few times, think 'Happy Days' or 'Melrose Place' chic !!! Free pickup/drop off, free breakfast, bar and dennys attached as mentioned, personally I love it !!

That's great to hear - haven't actually stayed there yet but we're booked in for a night when we arrive at LAX in February. After doing the red-eye from Perth and then the long haul to LAX, we've decided this time to give ourselves a break and overnight at the Travelodge then head off our our domestic US flight the next day. As you said, the proximity to the airport, free shuttle, free breakfast, free Wifi, Dennys on the premises (which is open 24 hours), as well as an earlier check-in time (compared to most hotels) all sounded pretty good to us, especially for less than $120 (including tax) :)

Wondering of anyone has had any more recent experiences of booking 24 hour or day rates at LAX?

I'll be there for 24 hours in October, arriving LAX around 8pm then leaving the next night on QF 12. Will most likely head down to Santa Monica for the day, but would like to leave my bags in the room, change / shower before I head over to check in around 8pm and have the option of an afternoon nap if needed.

I had a day rate at the Hilton LAX recently. Check out was 6pm by memory so checked in, went to the lounge for a bit and then got a massage before boarding.

They also have shuttle service to/from the airport.
