My husband and I are travelling to South America next May on the LAN/QF code-share flight from Sydney to Santiago via Auckland (one way LAN metal, the other QF). We decided to use some QFF points for my husband on QF321/QF28 but I have a paid ticket as a LAN passenger on LA800/LA807, which was considerably cheaper when combined with internal SA flights than booking the same flights as a QF passenger.
We are flying in Business but we cannot have seats together as QF has the right to market some seats and LAN the others. As there are no options for us to choose seats together (despite lots of availability), we have had to choose a window and aisle on other sides of the plane and will have to negotiate with the passengers in the companion seats at the airport when we go.
I have spoken to the usually helpful QF Platinum staff and to LAN but neither can offer any solution. Seems they don't actually communicate and both claim there is no way to fix this.
