My husband and I are travelling to South America next May on the LAN/QF code-share flight from Sydney to Santiago via Auckland (one way LAN metal, the other QF). We decided to use some QFF points for my husband on QF321/QF28 but I have a paid ticket as a LAN passenger on LA800/LA807, which was considerably cheaper when combined with internal SA flights than booking the same flights as a QF passenger.

We are flying in Business but we cannot have seats together as QF has the right to market some seats and LAN the others. As there are no options for us to choose seats together (despite lots of availability), we have had to choose a window and aisle on other sides of the plane and will have to negotiate with the passengers in the companion seats at the airport when we go.

I have spoken to the usually helpful QF Platinum staff and to LAN but neither can offer any solution. Seems they don't actually communicate and both claim there is no way to fix this.

You will be able to sit together on the day. Work it out with the FA when you have taken off. I am flying this route in the next couple of days and from what I can see the LAN side of the plane has me and my wife and 2 others with LAN seats and QF looks to have around 10 seats left in there allocation. This is out of a configuration with (I think) 36 J class seats. The QF27/28 flights, especially in J class are traditionally only filled to approx. 60 - 70%. It is deliberately not filled any further apparently to do with the planes range and weight constraints. Or so I have been led to believe.
Finally you could try Qantas again at T80

I found with LAN (on LAN ticket) that on the day of check-in seats are not restricted and I end up being allocated a seat in the qf area and qf pax in the LAN area. So I think you will get seats together just ask at check-in.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I had a similar issue flying a Qf codeshare on Oz metal from Syd-Icn in J.+1 was on the same plane booked with an Oz flight number. ..we could not allocate seats together but at checkin, we were allocated 2 seats together upon asking; at the airport all seating restrictions were lifted.
