The Great Race to Ogden

To round off a trip to LA, if I get the chance I try for a visit to Fullerton in LA, the railway station there sees many different types of trains from large 'stack' trains (where they double stack the shipping containers on top of each other) to Amtrak long distance to the east as far a Chicago and also the Surfliners which run to San Diego.

The big selling point to me is there is a really decent restaurant in the station car park plus a bar on the platform itself.

Heading back to Pennsy?

The final day was to head over to Santa Monica for a wander around the beach, pier and some lunch, it's one of those places that is always a bit different each visit.

The icon of US law enforcement, Fords Crown Victoria are starting to be on the way out of production.

While moving from the lounge to the QF 380, other 380's spotted.

So after a short but big driving trip I'm considering do it all again in 2020 when 4014 the Big Boy comes out on the next Great Race. When out doing cross country drives in the US I usually stay at Best Westerns and eat in diners, makes for a great road trip.
The Datsun and another Aussie's Mustang rental at Penny's Diner Green River WY in the blue hour before dawn.

4014 is currently stopped in El Paso on the Great Race Across the Southwest.

2020 will likely see it race to the Pacific North West and northern California and I hope a run through Feather River Canyon or over Donner Pass, Either way, looking forward to catching up with Ed Dickens and 4014.
