Soon after starting back I decided to venture out on this jetty to see if I could get a shot of Triabunna.

But it was quite narrow and very ricketty so I only got about half way out when I decided to turn around. So Triabunna is around to the left.

But I did see the place to buy lobsters.

So now to the dinners at the resort.With the Govt. voucher dinner was included and I am sure that on the voucher website it was a 3 course dinner but the website was taken down in mid November as you had to book very soon after being notified you had been successful in getting a voucher.
On arrival at reception was told yes it does include a dinner and told you can choose anything of the menu and was handed a voucher for each night.But when we turned up for dinner and handed over the voucher we were told it was only for 1 main course each.So I said we will have the seafood tower for 2. Sorry that is not included but we will allow $25 each of the cost -$90. Well the main courses were apart from 1 $25 or more.

So mrsdrron had the salmon and I the Sri Lankan seafood curry. The salmon was Ok and only slightly overcooked. The curry was a small serve and quite disappointing.

We washed things down with a local Orford sav.blanc. Passable.

Then sweets. The best part of the meal. Mrsdrron had the coconut pannacotta with mango sauce and I the the gin pear and rhubarb crumble.

Now we have had lunch there a couple of years ago with @RooFlyer . It was quite OK.However it has obviously changed hands. A totally different menu and staff. On the second night @RooFlyer joined us. As the steak was the dearest main we could have that's what we both had and Rooflyer did as well. it was quite acceptable. But the service was a shambles. We ordered a bottle of white. A little later the waitress came back and said it was out of stock. So we ordered another one. When a bottle finally arrived it was a different brand to that ordered. it took a long time to come so Rooflyer asked the manager if it was coming only to get a tongue lashing for interrupting him.
The manager it turns out is from Nepal.Our waiter from Sri Lanka and on her first day at work.

We did have desserts and this is mine.

No it is not a scallop pie.It is a pear and rhubarb pie. It tasted exactly the same as the previous night's dessert but in a pie case..

So I do not recommend this restaurant.

Yes, the restaurant was very disappointing and I won't be sending any more visitors there. I last took visitors there about 3 months ago and it was OK - pre changing hands. Its a shame, as there are no good restaurants in the Orford-Triabunna area and at Swansea further up the coast, the restaurants can be very hit-and-miss. The Blue Waters at Orford is about on a par with the East Coaster.

The best local place for lunch is now the Fish Van take-away on the Triabunna waterfront

I can rate the local Darlington winery mentioned by drron - when I was in home quarantine in March 2020 after arriving back from O/S, they did home delivery

I think the inexperience and understaffing is a real issue in the hospitality industry right now. As you say first day on the job for the waitress but… poor service does not get rewarded with repeat business… anyone who does not believe the customer is (usually) always right won’t last long in business

After dinner on the first night we watched the folk fishing for a while. The 2 smallest kids were the only ones who caught a decent size fish.The youngest was so excited heimmediately ran up to the restaurant to show his mum.

It was a fair bit later the second night andwe viewed East Coast Tasmania's version of stairway to the stars.

Sunday and a slow drive home. First a short drive of the local area near the resort.

Then a great place for a simple meal in Triabunna. The Fish Van. We couldn't go past the Lobster roll. Great value at $14.

Just north of Swansea you cross this river.

I still remember the first time we crossed this river in 1977.Our son was with us aged 2.5 years. He was at that stage of life when he was very inquisitive. Every time you asked him a question he answered why. So crossing this river I said here's a river. Of course he answered Why so I was able to say you are right. Totally confused him.
Where I had to stop to take that picture was a walnut orchard.

We then went by the Lake Leake road back to Oatlands.We stopped at this roadhouse half way.
.

Run by an older couple who were very talkative. It was going to be a planned community though it doesn't look like that was successful.
It is decorated slightly differently to most roadhouses.
