No, black heart sassafras !!
It is my favorite Tassie wood, I bought a beautiful hall table about 10 years ago in Deloraine. It has amazing colour and grain.
Noted - for the next renovation thanks.
Is there an artisan in Deloraine who does bespoke - beautiful wood

You'll be hard-pressed to get it, especially out of Tasmania. Its a rain forest species, with logging of it restricted, for 'speciality' purposes. @mrs.dr.ron , I think at Velo its veneer or imitation???

The leaves of the Sassafras are nicely aromatic .

There are a lot of people who work with Tasmanian timbers. We did buy a hall table made from black heart sassafras about 12 or 13 years ago in Deloraine.Just the right time as we have seen something similiar for about 10 times the price recently.

This is our table.20200628_165500.jpg.

Made by a fellow called Drew Badcock who is well known around Deloraine though I think he has moved.Googled his name but he doesn't have his own gallery.I did find a place in NSW that does have some of his pieces.

They will, of course, freight

Although the forecast for Saturday was rain it turned out a nice day.A latish start and we first went to Longford for a craft fair.Mrsdrron was happy as we met the maker of the beautiful vase we bought in Longford the last time she was down.A bonus was that the Rustic bakery van was in attendance so we each had a rather scrumptious donut.

We then drove off towards Deloraine via Bishopsbourne,Bracknell and Osmaston. As usual taking the back roads was a scenic delight. We consumed our donuts at the Bracknell RV point on the banks of the Bracknell River.

Lunch in the garden as the sun was out.You must book for Sunday lunch.People without a booking were turned away. Our booking was for midday so we could choose whether outside or inside. After 1215 you could only be seated outside if you had specifically booked outside.A family of 10 put on a show when they were turned away as no booking.A family of 10.WTF.
