The Enhanced GHA Discovery program

I don't know if this is a useful tip - or more of a 'Der, how could you not know that?'. Sorry if it's the latter.

My wife recently signed up to GHA Discovery and - even more recently - got to Titanium with our stays at Oaks Townsville Gateway, Pan Pacific Melbourne and Avani Residences Adelaide.

We thought this would have happened sooner, as we also stayed at the Avani Jazz Corner in Melbourne straight after the PanPac (and loved the room). As the booking accrued D$, we assumed it would count towards status. But we found out after the stay that it didn't.

On some subsequent digging through dummy bookings, I found that the rate we chose had this rider: Exclusive to Minor DISCOVERY members. So not relevant to the broader GHA Discovery program. We'll be checking the rate conditions more closely on from now on, in particular for any GHA hotels that are also part of the Minor group.

Hmmm that’s odd. I’ve definitely booked those rates at both Oaks in Melbourne and Avani overseas and they counted, earned dollars, earned bonus minor dollars and upgraded me to titanium.

Did it post as an Avani? I wonder of GHA saw it as an Oaks, as I think the Oaks and Avani there are closely tied together.

Thanks @muppet, that is odd. But glad you haven't had the same issue.

In our booking history it definitely notes the Jazz Corner Stay was ineligible. Maybe something to do with that specific property? I think in any case, we'll look to avoid bookings with that Minor hotels condition - unless any price difference is just too big.

That's very good to know because I typically book thru the GHA app - but on occasion when the GHA app had problems I admit using the Avani or NH Hotel websites but thankfully I didn't encounter what you did. I very much enjoy the Titanium benefits and I admit not shopping around for lower priced non-GHA hotels because the dbl room upgrade and local amenity etc really make it superb. Tks for sharing your info.
