The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes.

I agree entirely with your rationale and choice of seat and glad it worked out, but you seemed to have been lucky in the FA not asking you to take seat on BP (a call notwithstanding) AND presumably the gent had a BP with 2D on it.

Did he do the "Excuse me, I think you are in my seat" ? If not, then it definitely sounds like someone arranged a favour which was undone when you objected.

BTW, did you have a paper BP, or just the app? If you had a paper BP sating 2D I wonder if they would have tried it on? EDIT: I see the answer in post above :). Paper BPs are STILL always a thing for me!!
Paper BP doesn’t stop the “red light” and cranky beep going off and replacement BP being handed over.

No he didn't he went straight to 1A presumably FA told him to.

There was no way to get a paper boarding pass the machines at CNS don't print them. Even though I dropped bag at manual counter wasn't able to get one.

Will screen shot my BP at check in next time.

That's interesting. I've never not had a paper BP. I'd be lost without one. Useful to wave at people in your seat and invaluable to scribble a note on when I find I've no paper in my pocket. Also when folded up, are excellent for fixing rocking tables.
I suspect they probably thought you wouldn't mind 1A. Personally, I prefer window in J as you don't get beaten up by swinging bags. I also prefer row 1 as you get fed first and on a short flight, that's useful. Also more room.

Fully understand the irritation. I loathe row 1 on 737's/narrowbodies for exactly these reasons also so pick 2 and 3 (despite QF insisting on automatically putting me in row 1 - I get hat though but does amuse me a tad). Anyway I totally get it.. and it's not cool to ASSUME you're cool with it to make nice for last minute upgrades. Sorry dudes.. you got lucky with your upgrade bid so just enjoy it (and to be fair, nowhere in your experience reports do you indicate the moved hubby arc'd up, just the wife gave you the eye). Certainly were I in that situation (upgraded) I'd be happy for that and take whatever. Maybe I'd politely ask you if you'd mind moving and if you said no then I'd be OK with that. Anyway I get it totally.

the only contrary thing I suppose I'd note without intending to get anyone irate is that seat REQUESTS are just that. IIRC in the rest system they're even coded as a SSR (Special Service Request). ie seat requests aren't guaranteed is the point and airlines can change them for whatever reasons they like. Usually good ones like an inop seat (had that happen) or an air marshal and so on.

This, though, is not really a case of any kind of operational requirement or anything (and seems the FA/CSM clearly saw this as such) and it is really frustrating. I'm going to guess the GA working the flight was trying to be helpful and made a poor assumption. Absolutely agree that they should have either said to the pax (it's unclear if the pax had any knowledge of this or not?) to politely ask on board otherwise tough OR to attempt to contact you to ask (ie page in lounge or gate).

And scan it at the gate / show to the FA 😂

Show to desk/FA to have seat selection restored before boarding, in case future FAs are less helpful.

The women commented loudly on disembarking that she had to sit by herself because someone was unhappy with their seat. I just smiled and thanked the FA for restoring my seat and providing fabulous service. The lady across the aisle from me, said she would also have requested the seat be restricted as she also selected row 2 for same reasons as me.

If the seat change was due to last minute change of aircraft or other operational issues fine, but not for an upgrade. When an upgrade clears for me i'll take any seat, but when i booked and did seat selection 10 months out, and have said seat on my BP 24 and also at 2 hours before departure i dont expect to get bumped.

I suspect if they had asked 1C to swap she may have as she wasnt happy when FA asked her to put her xl ipad in overhead bin for take off.

Now OT to this thread as it's not a glitch per se, but yes there is a lot of social media "talk" (I don't know what else t call this stuff!) about seat swapping requests from entitled pax (a different situation to be sure) and many of course refusing if they've paid for or selected their seat for reasons.. anyway one I saw had a guy basically saying to a seat change requester "Well sure if you want to swap to my seat that will be $300. " - kind of made me laugh though of course would cause so much more air rage, but it kind of feels that way at times. Again different situation to an agent making a change without consultation though. Again yeah should have been left to on board and 1C probably yes would have changed happily. I certainly have on quite a few flights if the offered seat doesn't unduly affect me (in J on 737's usually). I've even offered when I notice people separated and again it wouldn't affect me to, for example, move from 3A to 2D or something.

Anyway back to glitches.. I noticed on the app recently in booking flights sections sometimes the classic reward logo would show up in the "fares from..." line for a sector, but then showing all the fares there's no apparent reward seats to be had. Not consistent though so kind of odd. Good ol' QF :)

Does anyone know how to find your hotel voucher and wine vouchers - I'm sure I had both but can't find either

Login, go to hotel bookings, Select cancelled bookings, scroll down to payment and if a credit voucher was applied it will show up as refund to credit voucher and the name of the voucher.

Are these from Points Club? If So from the Status dropdown select Points Club and they will be the first thing listed.
Unless your PC page hasn’t been enhanced. Mine appears to have gone back to the old style. Pretty sure I don’t have any active vouchers but impossible to tell now….😳

500 - that's an error at our end

It looks like something went wrong with our system. Try reloading the page and it should work, otherwise head back to the homepage.

I managed to generate this error when clicking on the 'reward seats' option when searching for flights. I did try reloading the page but got the same error. However given its conciliatory tone I forgive it. After all it is not often that Qantas acknowledges an error.

Hoping this is IT related and not a further enhancement to QFF…

Flying from Hobart and it's offering me accommodation in my 'destination' Hobart, and 'my hotel' (?? Is it?) apparently has something to do with a row of bikes labelled 'Melbourne'.

Using the app and it's suggesting I download the app.

🤷🏼

I'm currently battling Qantas hotels, refuses to book some error. ISTR a solution or reason for the problem. Can someone remind me, is this caused by trying to use the $50 point club voucher?

I've tried 3 cards, 3 computers, phone app and 2 browser. given the hotel price has increase $50 now compared to last night the voucher has become pointless.

I had a similar issue recently. Turns out redeemed vouchers aren't removed from your Points Club page, and I forgot I'd used it on a booking last year.

The full voucher code shows up as a line item on the tax invoice though, so you can search your inbox for the code to see if you're making the same mistake I did!!

My solution was really weird. Called them, gave them the most recent failed booking, booking reference.
They verified who I was, asked some card details - type, last 4 digits. Spent about 15 minutes on hold while they "verified" the transaction. Came back, said all good - you've got 15 minutes to book, try again.

but based on your info, maybe they just checked I didn't already use the voucher code. Really painful process.

Is this normal on Qantas booking website? just no response, and it will never time out (the animated dots indicating waiting for response never stop). If i cancel and try again, i will normally get an obscure errror indicating my browser has been blocked for about 15 mins or so.

I will more likely get this error if searching for Reward flights with both a Domestic and International leg, such as BNE>CGK (via syd or Mel) or reverse.

i get exactly same errors and pattern on 3 different computers, different browsers and also Phone App, and has been going on for a month.
Its cost me the redemption of a journey i didnt want MEL>CGK because i couldnt get a better option, only to get lucky a week later and also redeemed OOL>CGK via SYD despite departing BNE just errored out all the time or not available.
