Bed comforters, bathroom faucets, TV remotes, toilet bases and telephones were found to be the dirtiest spots.
A TV remote at one hotel in Vancouver allegedly recorded an ATP level of 22,292, with over 70 per cent of remote controls tested receiving a caution or fail result. To put this into perspective, an ATP level under 300 is considered a “pass”, between 300 and 999 is in a caution zone and over 1000 is a fail.
And you may think washing your hands is the way to reduce germs – but 30 per cent of the faucets failed.
Meanwhile, comforters failed 23 out of 51 tests, with the highest score of 26,124.
