It’s time for this little cat to embark on her second whirlwind around the US for the year, on a mix of airlines, in a mix of classes, and to a rather varied mix of destinations. The main purpose of my trip is to attend International Quilt Market in Houston. This is an annual event, and the largest in the world for quilt fabrics. It’s every quilter’s dream to attend and with a little magic, I’ll be attending for the first time. Then with a few days spare, and a little company in the form of JessicaTam, a little status run to Bermuda was in order. At T-17 this is a run-down of my itinerary to whet the appetite.

Day 1:
VA23 Melbourne to LA, business class (row 5). 777-300
LAX-PHX, US Airways, Economy, A321
PHX-IAH, US Airways, Economy, A319

Day 5:
IAH-DFW, American Airlines, First Class, MD80
DFW-MIA, AA, First class, 737-800
MIA-BDA, AA, Business Class, 737-800

Day 8:
BDA-JFK, AA, Business Class, 737-800

Day 9:
JFK-LAX, AA, First Class, A321T
Now this flight is the one I’m most looking forward to, and was made possible thanks to the SWU certificates I won here on AFF from the generous Danger.

Day 10:
QF94 LAX-MEL, Qantas, Economy, A380.
This one will be a bit of a shock to the system after flying F the previous day....fortunately I’ve locked in seats on the upper deck, 32A.

All in, there will be 9 flights in 10 days. Four airlines, seven plane types, and three classes of travel. And my first time ever flying First.

My SIL would be drooling at you attending the Quilt convention. I'm drooling at the numerous first class flights.

Have a wonderful time.

This is an interesting mix of sectors

Spicing things up a little :D I've never flown US and there certainly won't be an opportunity for much longer. And the first class transcon should be phenomenal.

AA sent me an email to advise that my flight had changed and that I had already been rebooked. Logged on to find that QF94 is showing the minor time change that I've known about for months....

I received an email telling me my DL flight departure time had been changed, and I needed to login and confirm that I was ok to still catch that flight. The time change? One minute.

I think this one was 10 minutes or so. Still not a big deal.

Thanks to BDA-JFK-LAX, we have a 24 hour layover in New York which will mean an afternoon and evening in the city. I've been to NYC numerous times do don't need to do any of the tourist things. What I want to do is eat :D

I've got a few ideas, but I'm open to suggestions for lunch and dinner...

Le Benardin for lunch.. they have quite good deals for lunch (if you enjoy seafood)

otherwise Eleven Madison Park lunch (but will spend the afternoon there as it takes a while to get through it all), then take a walk downtown.. ferry at dusk to see the lights and Statue of Liberty

Momofuku noodle bar for simpler stuff

not a seafood fan, but momofuku noodle bar is definitely on my list!

So just make sure you do yourself a favour and head to Lillies for a late night drink - Lillie's Times Square

Will pop it on my potentials list, thanks :D
