The Alan Davies Affair [QF FA Swears at PAX?]

Actually twitter is not the authority, the person writing the twit is the authority.

Saying the account of the person at the centre of the problem is hearsay, is misleading IMO. Nothing negative about correctly defining hearsay.
I agree on both counts, but I did not suggest that AD's tweets were heresay, it was more everyone elses opinions and interpretations of what they have read... but yeah, whatever.... I certainly wont be losing sleep over it.

Re: The Alan Davies Affair

Actually this thread is the first result on google with those terms.:D

I assume this person is someone who thinks he is important?

He's an alleged comedian who does some acting on those shows that your granny enjoys when they turn up on the ABC at 7.30pm on a weekend.

His demographic is actually 25-35. My daughter lives in London and went to a QI taping -- that's the age group that attended. I don't much care for him myself but it it wasn't for Davies and Stephen Fry QI would be very lame indeed.

I wasn't referring to Qi, I was referring to those series for Grannies that turn up in that timeslot when they're not showing repeats of Miss Marple or Doc Martin or whatever it is (when NO self-respecting 25 - 35 is watching television.) I enjoy Qi myself, but it wouldn't suffer for his absence. Kick him off and give Jo Brand his spot and I'd be ecstatic.

Are you forgetting Jonathon Creek. That was around in the mid to late 1990s and was just about as popular as the bill. Sure it might have the Sunday Argo time slot now, but then it is 12+ year old repeats now. And do the sums on a 25-35 demographic + 12 years.

Re: The Alan Davies Affair

Alans complaint and Qantas response available here (posted by Alan himself):

A Qantas experience - Lonely Planet travel forum

Im not leaning either way, it appears both sides could have handled this better and left it as an "in air" incident

from the LP thread:
"Don't forget we're talking about the man who was prosecuted for assault after biting a chunk out a homeless man's ear"

I wonder what the old grannies who comprise his fan-base would make of that?

Interesting little story that one. His initial LP post quoting his letter to QF and their response has been deleted from the thread as it was reported as spam (it can be read here :A Qantas Experience - A Qantas Experience
From the Daily Mail, Alan Davies account of the homeless man incident is that he was sworn at and called a "C" which provoked his response. Something of a recurring theme

Didn't realise until I read the article that he wasn't taking his daughter to the bathroom for a call of nature but so she could play with a bar of soap in a cup of water. Seriously a toilet isn't a child's creche.

So he has been travelling with QF for 20 years and he didn't realise he had gone into the F cabin.
Sounds like he could have been tired and emotional.

Thanks for posting that link; I guess he's on a one-man mission to send Qantas broke by spreading the news.

The Daily Mail piece is a little florid, but like you it's left me wondering what it is about Alan Davies that makes people want to swear so badly at him...

"There is nothing to do for children on a Qantas long haul flight." Um, I suspect that if you are a well-prepared parent you might not agree with Davies on that point
