I don't know how this would go down as a "game", but I thought I'd give it a go.

I've composed a list of items below that we need to "find". There are no time limits, but it'd be interesting to see how quickly we can get all those items. I guess if we made a nominal one, then keeping with the hunting spirit and considering Easter is coming up, lets see if all the items can be found before Good Friday (02/04/2010).

To "find" an item, simply take a photo of the item (including any conditions in the item), upload it then post it here. (For those that do not have access to an upload service, you can PM me then I will upload it to a space on my FT Galleries.)

Rules
  • Finds can only be photos that are dated from the date of this OP (22/02/2010) or later. No previous photos are allowed. No stock photos are allowed. No photos or images borrowed from airline websites are allowed. No manufactured/synthesised photos. No conjuring the photo on your computer and then taking a photo of the computer screen. Essentially, it has to be a photo you have taken in your travels or daily life.
  • Post only one find per posting; in each post of a find, specify:
    • The name and number of the item found
    • The find (i.e. the photo)
    • Where it was found (at least city and country)
    • Date the photo was taken
    • Any other short description
  • The only synthesis/modification allowed with photos is scrubbing out personal details or where it is required by law.
  • A single member can only find up to three items.
  • I'll try to keep the thread regularly updated as to:
    • Who found what
    • What has been found and what is left to be found
    • Hall of Trios - members who have found three items in the list

Obviously for some items I or any of us cannot be there to verify it may be correct, so we'll have to trust that everyone that participates is doing so for the spirit of the game, and the consensus will also decide whether a find is acceptable or not.

Everyone understand? Good! I'm hoping that someone may be able to pick this game up again once we go through it, and make the next list.

Without further ado, here is the list:

  1. HKG-based ground crew holding a "Final Call" sign (you can just take a picture of the sign if you want, not the crew + sign)
  2. Bottle of Krug
  3. "Final Call" written in a language other than English
  4. Airport directional sign written in at least three languages (including English)
  5. Boarding pass which is completely printed (e.g. the BP without any print on it would be just a completely blank piece of cardboard/paper)
  6. Old style “clickety-clack” flipping departures / arrivals board except in the QF F Lounges (MEL or SYD) or FRA
  7. A single word which has two distinct antonyms (these antonyms are not synonyms of each other)
  8. Triple loading gate with an A380 parked at it with all jetways in position
  9. A triple shot espresso
  10. A non-Australian nationalistic soft toy in a duty free shop (not necessarily in Australia)
  11. A cancelled flight shown on an airport FID
  12. An aircraft registration that actually forms a word (you don’t have to use the entire rego, but the minimum word length is 3 letters)
  13. A helicopter at an airport
  14. Sushi found in an airport lounge
  15. Clotted cream
  16. An incoming immigration card for a nation not in Asia or Oceania
  17. Wine served from a jug rather than a bottle
  18. Aircraft sporting a special livery

  22. Macintosh computer as seen in a lounge
  23. A foreign keyboard (i.e. not US layout)
  24. A water feature inside an airport (e.g. fountain) – a shower is not a water feature
  25. A flight shown with at least 4 flight numbers (viz. 1 operating metal flight number and at least 3 codeshare flight numbers)
  26. Bottle of The Glenlivet Scotch Whisky (age irrelevant)
  27. A carafe
  28. Eight glasses of beer – this item requires two photos: one photo showing a "before drinking" shot; the other is an "after drinking" shot. In both shots, all eight glasses must be shown
  29. Eggs Florentine
  30. A self-check-in machine which is out of order
  31. Bottle of Chinese beer
  32. A sign at a gate indicating the location / presence of priority boarding which is not a sign from QF

  36. An apron with exactly two aircraft currently parked
  37. An aircraft not manufactured by Airbus or Boeing
  38. Salt and pepper shakers – shot must be shown as being on board an aircraft
  39. An airline's kids fun pack
  40. A food or drink item (e.g. bag of nuts, bottle of water, etc.) that specifically states or shows that the item was prepared specially for an airline

  3. "Final Call" written in a language other than English (serfty again)

  17. Wine served from a jug rather than a bottle
  18. Aircraft sporting a special livery
  19. Aircraft at an international airport parked at a non-aerobridge gate (i.e. is boarded/deplaned with air stairs)
  20. An EXIT sign in a language other than English (there is one on the JQ A321s)
  21. A sign or board which displays all of the members of the Star Alliance (could have had this one but you are a week late)
  22. Macintosh computer as seen in a lounge
  23. A foreign keyboard (i.e. not US layout)
  24. A water feature inside an airport (e.g. fountain) – a shower is not a water feature (Singapore would be good for this)
In both shots, all eight glasses must be shown. (Who is going to take the credit for the photo on AFF drinks March 17.)
  29. Eggs Florentine
  30. A self-check-in machine which is out of order (easy Brisbane all the time)
  31. Bottle of Chinese beer
  32. A sign at a gate indicating the location / presence of priority boarding which is not a sign from QF
  33. A bag sitting in a test brace for checking for an acceptable size of cabin baggage (Virgin Blue has one at Brisbane domestic)
  34. Gate 13
  35. Buggy/cart used to move people around an airport (e.g. elderly, disabled, lazy people who don’t want to walk :p)
  36. An apron with exactly two aircraft currently parked
  37. An aircraft not manufactured by Airbus or Boeing (easy, pity its dark or I would have this one for you)
  38. Salt and pepper shakers – shot must be shown as being on board an aircraft
  39. An airline's kids fun pack
  40. A food or drink item (e.g. bag of nuts, bottle of water, etc.) that specifically states or shows that the item was prepared specially for an airline (again I have a shot but its last week)

I guess some are easier than others.

Some mornings I do #9 using the Nespresso machine at home.
(Unfortunately George Clooney does not make it for me.)

I can probably manage #13 without much effort :!:
But your photo doesn't show an airport :D - that oil rig landing area doesn't qualify

Did anybody get #28 on Saturday??

I think I can get #33, #34 and #35 tomorrow at SYD airport and #39 when I get home. Maybe even #11 if I'm lucky (but hopefully it's not my flight)

The clotted cream is obviously a jab at me :p Unfortunately I’m not in the UK till June!!

My dad (do you need to be a member) is flying out of HKG tonight and could presumably get a shot of #1 and #3 on his iPhone.

Seeing as I’m picking dad up at the airport tomorrow I’m pretty sure #6 is in the INT departures hall visible from check-in.

Did anybody get #28 on Saturday?

No but I think Sam drank enough to qualify :!: :D

I can confirm I had 10 glasses of beer, but never had more than 2 glasses in front of me at the same time ;)

(do you need to be a member)

Yes you need to be a member :p Yes, I'm being a cruel b******. Otherwise, we would just be calling people half-way around the world to take photos for us. Only exception is if you are actually there with the person when they took the photo.

I’m pretty sure #6 is in the INT departures hall visible from check-in.

That departures board doesn't count - only the airline logo part is clickety-clack flipping; the rest of it is digital. In fact, come to think of it, I think the whole thing is digital now (at least the one in the check-in area is fully digital IIRC).

I can confirm I had 10 glasses of beer, but never had more than 2 glasses in front of me at the same time

They're getting more strict with the glasses policy at that place. We can't even create a glass stack any more.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I can probably get #22, #30, #31, #33 and #35 by the end of this week if someone else does not beat me to it.

(Must be really bored to be posting in this thread at this time of the night.)

I could have got #19 (and #20 for good measure) the other day at KLIA LCCT.

What's this boarding an international flight climbing stairs to the rear door of an A320 all about....

What am I offered for taking a few photos on my way home from HKG later this week? I think I could manage quite a few, maybe even half. But 18 might be a stretch before a morning departure ;).

Re: 26 "Bottle of The Glenlivet Scotch Whisky (age irrelevant)" - is the bottle (inside packaging) appropriate?

Spotted at Tesco (Braintree, Essex, UK).

Or does it need to be within Duty Free (inside airport). No clarification was made by anatOl, so I think you get the first one, Mal

Had "Clotted Cream" with my Club Europe "Devonshire tea" one afternoon flight DBV-LGW in 2008.

No photo's but ...

Triple shot espresso

2 x Ristretto capsules, 1 x Gingerbread capsule. Turns out I couldn't stomach a triple shot espresso this morning. Does a triple shot flat white count??
