EK F questions, or, Thanks, BW!
I now have three QFF points in my account. What's left after yesterday's effort is now transferred across to an account they never touched.
I'm returning to Iran next year. My aim was to get enough points for a RTW OW award in J at 2 x 280K QFF points. But that shrunk down as I haven't been able to work out the US visa system and I'll need my passport for getting the Iranian visa, and if I left the booking until I had both visas, there'd be no seats left. So scratch the US. I was planning Iran, Italy, and Japan for a nice five week trip, but then the wife says she's going back to work and doesn't want to be away that long.
So I tried to cobble together 2 J award seats on OW, and I managed to get most of the flights. BA does a LHR-THR run, which has plenty of seats, and QR was likewise easy, though the problem was getting to Doha in the first place.
So frustrating seeing a lot of availability on EK, which isn't OW, until the penny dropped. Why not just try for QF/EK award flights straight in and out?
I was able to find SYD-DBX-THR in F and THR-DBX-MEL in J, with Canberra connecting flights thrown in for 480K the pair of us. A saving of 80K on the OW route which would have been fairly circuitous, with the F seats a bonus.
My question is this. I haven't flown Emirates First, so what's my best lounge and seat selection strategy for the SYD-THR legs?
As a WP a couple of years ago, I spent a few hours in the awesome DBX Flounge, and I've got six hours there before hopping on the 777 flight to Tehran. I spent most of that time just being astonished, and I doubt I've scratched the surface of what's available.
In Sydney, the QF Flounge is a known - and much appreciated - commodity. Is the Emirates First experience going to be any better?
Not sure about seats. Probably a pair of centres will be best for us. Anything I should look out for?
