Thank you for your loyalty

I think I'm in the +1 group for not using the DSC promo this time around. After already booked travel, I was around 70SCs short of retaining Gold, but am going to get 80 through the Loyalty Gift. With DSCs not counting to lifetime, I have no incentive to book travel during this promo, and will probably wait for things like Triple Points Frenzy promos on Hotels/Holidays to book more travel.

Trust Qantas to award a gift for loyalty that, for many people, will have precisely 0 value lol.

Yep, absolutely ridiculous. and at the same time remove the Lifetime carrot for DSC's just to rub it in. Surely with the loyalty bonus they'd have workshopped it and said 'lets just allow people to claim it at any point in the next 12 months', but no...

Initially I was tempted to sit this one out, having 91% requalified WP four months into my membership year, largely off the back of partner airlines and previous DSC offers. But I kind of enjoy the ROK-MKY runs so I might just have a little nibble this time.

Mrs Pineapple is utterly enthralled at VH’s gift of 80 SCs to help her requalify LTG. But no, they don’t qualify for lifetime status, so that is a doubly worthless gift. She is enthralled because she wasn’t given a cashback bonus on a JQ flight, which would be a discounted entry to hell for her.

It's a pretty wild assumption by many that the loyalty gift is connected to the data breach.

QF never said that, and it would be a pretty poor way to do it for the same reasons mentioned above, for many it does nothing. It's basically a lose lose - they don't get the public PR credit by claiming they've offered compensation, and even if they did this would be a poor way to go about it. Just like the covid status keeper they'll always please some and piss off others when it comes to gifting status credits. Gifting points is much fairer.

I don't know why they offered the gift, my only theory is they've crunched the numbers and think this will entice some people to go for the next status tier. It's obviously intended to benefit Qantas.

Mrs Pineapple is utterly enthralled at VH’s gift of 40 SCs to help her requalify LTG.

Surely qualifying once is enough? 😆

Why oh why do these random SC gifts always pop up when I don't need them? With the loss of the deferred LB and the shifting of the GT goal posts meaning I won't retain it next year, having only a 100SC from PC+ rather than 200 head start in December, this is just rubbing salt in the wound. Of course it's great for those with earlier renewal dates, but IIRC the free SCs were around this time last year - maybe shifting the time of year they offer them each year could be a thing so all members get a chance to to benefit?
Anyway rant over, very much a first world problem. On the other hand I am very happy I have LTG locked away - it seems that they are starting down BA's path of making LT status harder to get :(

Sadly don’t count toward LT status and I have a 30 September member year end, so would seem to be unfortunately zero value to me and likely many others in the same boat.
My flight tomorrow requalifies my Plat status....as my membership year emd 31.10, the gift of 150SCs is useess for me. I guess i should be overjoyed by the gift of 2500 points as a PC member :(
Yep 0 value for me. I retained WP 6months ago.
I totally agree that having a 31 October membership year end is the pits when they pull this sort of stuff!
Same ! 30 Sept year end. Not counting towards lifetime earn really hurts as well.
I am in exactly the same position. It actually hurts as it seems to benefit only people who have not flown a lot and need extra S.Cs to reach the next level
Sigh, was one of the most affected in the data leak and have a 30 Sep membership year end. Reminds me of the last Covid support they provided where I also got screwed by the membership year end.

Would be nice if there was a targeted gift to those affected by the data leak, that contributed towards LTS/LTG.
I'm in the same boat ... the 150 SC "gift" is useless to me having already qualified WP until end Oct. 2026.

I guess the 2500 points from the PC gift has some value.

I think I'll sit this one out, as I've already made enough bookings to requalify for WP from September 2026. However, I don't have a real problem with the promo, especially as it's the second one this year.

The freebie SC's would have been nice and well timed for me (Sep-Aug qualification year), but as it stands, they will be completely useless to me (unless something goes wrong with my existing bookings).

At least the 5,000 points for PC+ will be useful.

Bronze 40

I'm a Bronze member w/ Points Club - currently on 196 SC and I've earned or used points in the past 18 months, so therefore I assume I'm eligible for these 40 SCs?

My anniversary is the end of November, so still a bit of time left.

I've got a CR flight coming up soon before then which will earn me 48 SCs - so with the 48 + 40 SCs, I'd be sitting at 284 SC - 16 short of Silver.

I don't really have anything else planned / everything is already booked - but even just booking a return flight for a short weekend away to Sydney before EOM November (even without DSC) would get me to Silver, lol.

The closest I've / would be to graduating from Bronze for the first time 😂

Oh Qantas you cheeky devil... They played me on this one!
Just booked a few grand worth of business travel for the next month which was to take me to within 10SC of retaining WP (with 3 months left). Then they drop this little nugget which would will easily get me there. Had this been announced any earlier I would've taken the SCs and switched the remainder of my flying to Virgin for the year, which I likely will now anyway as I'm not going to go close to P1.

Just got the general QFF e-mail telling me about my loyalty gift and promos - visibly called out that bonus SCs don't count towards lifetime status. Potentially trying to avoid an influx of questions later to customer support, but it's being made very clear in comms.

The SCs are useless to me (Membership year to end September).

The 5K points as PC+ member will be handy as I was expecting to be just short of re-qualifying PC+ and was going to move a few points from QBR to get over the hurdle. The 5K might be just enough to be me there without needing to transfer from QBR. Just need to be certain the 5K will post on 30 Sept as that is my final day to cross the 350K for PC+

What's the purpose of earning WP then flying with another airline?
If you can get VA status or maintain then you have more choice on your Int'l long hauls that have perks. Domestic short hauls generally aren't that different of an experience to matter too much.

Are we certain they count for PC+ 🤣
Gosh I’m getting cynical

That is what the notification says.
Will the Qantas Points gift contribute towards Points Club membership?
Yes, the Qantas Points gift will contribute toward the Points Club and Points Club Plus membership requirements.

The 150SC is welcome. It takes me over 2/3rd of my way to P1. I had given up on it, but this is now a tempter with 4 months left in the membership year... 🤔
