Thailand travel dilemmas

Hi all - have a couple of quandaries here relating to upcoming trips to Thailand.

Going to be flying Sydney-Bangkok twice in February, one flight being solo and the other will be with my wife and two small children.

For the solo trip, wondering if there are any ways to get cheap direct flights with any discount codes with airlines flying Syd-BKK? Would be flying 15 Feb and return flight on the 18th.

For the family trip, I understand we can't book a flight for our littlest who is 1. Does anyone have any tips for how we can best navigate a 9 hour flight with a small child who will likely want to move about and won't sleep much??

Thank you in advance for your help!

Just 1, or closer to 2? I found 17 months a horrendous time to travel as he wanted to be up and about like you said. An ipad and headphones probably would have done the trick, as he was barely interested in any activities that I packed (and I had a whole backpack full).

Generally, up to 18 months, they are a dream; it's the 2+ ones you need to manage. Try some drugs.

Bassinet seats and choosing a good airline will help, the rest is in the lap of the gods.

Nah, now that Master TC is 2 he's a dream. Loves an ipad. Even stayed awake the whole way to SIN with a midnight arrival o_O

We've been travelling with our daughter since she was ~1 month old. Quite a few trips back and forth to Thailand. She is now 7 years old and is an angel.

We had some minor problems early on but we had never ending offers of crew taking care of her willingly. Plus my wife is great with kids.

She's had a tablet since she was about 18 months old and a phone as well the past 15 months. Keeps her pre-occupied and doesn't annoy anyone.

Non stop, you would have either of JQ or with TG.
Edit: o, forgot QF, but they tend to be the more expensive of the 3.
A very good airline is of course, SQ, but for this you will have to transit SIN.
I don't have kids, and would avoid JQ but some love them for the basic service, and lower price.
TG would be the one to go for, if I were flying the route, and put in my SQ KF #.
A 3 day trip, could have you chatted with by ABF on your return.
There is a new system of data workings on your return to Aust, with the machines that read our passports now being changed, its a bit easier in some respects, but also more longer wait, per pax, as the first booth now takes a photo of you on flimsy paper, they no longer use the carboardy paper with a single line of alphanumerical code.
With family, they might allow you to use the staffed ABF counter on your return to Aust, with kids in tow.

What do you mean you ‘can’t book a flight for your littlest one’? They must have a ticket even if they are an infant on lap. Without a ticket (which will be attached to one of the adults) they can deny boarding. You can also buy a seat for them if you want more space. A lot of people do this once child is say 18+ months even though technically don’t need it.

Some crew members are great with little kids and willingly come to check on and entertain them for a little while when the cabin service / their duties have quieter periods. It also gives the kids variety and often keeps them in a better mood.
