There's plenty of history over on FT about SQ lounges trying to redirect non-SQ *A passengers to other lounges (especially at SYD) but they are know to allow access if you remind them of the *A rules.

Whats the difference between and F lounge and a shared lounge with an F section then?!

In somes places a huge difference where the First section can't possibly be described as a First Lounge.

e.g CX TPE First lounge. And even worse is the CX MNL First lounge.

Hehe. Memories of the old ex-TPE and ex-MNL status runs.

LOL!

I will still be doing them as I think they are good value. And you know the saying about a fool and his money? ;)

Talking of pyjamas (as B. Carr was), are the women's PJs more attractive than the men's, which have a sort of half zip top?

I was unaware until my son told me he was in SYD SQ lounge this afternoon, on his way to BKK on TG. I could have used SQ lounge last month when I flew OZ to ICN.

What is the difference between the on SQ lounge and new SQ lounge?

The old SQ lounge was small and boring. The NZ lounge is much better so there would have to be remarkable improvement in new SQ lounge to make it worth visiting.

New SK lounge looks nice, both J and F.
Great service, good food and not too crowded, at least when I was there.
I liked it more then the SK lounge in SIN.

The NZ lounge doesn't feel intimate...too many people, seldom enough seating. Food is alright though I have ever been in the mornings (breakfast service). The seating area to the right of service desk area is quieter and less crowded. Mobile-free here.

Has anyone any experience on access and desirability of the SQ F lounge for TG flts in F? Are they used to AFFers pointing out the *A access should be granted, and giving access?

Yes, boomy accessed it recently. Tried to get me in as well for a look without success so I retreated back to Qantas F lounge.

Sq are notorious for trying to minimize non sq pax in their syd lounge. A polite but firm response per star rules gets you in every time...as I have done personally on TG and NZ flights several times in recent years

Anyone know what kind of response or action SQ might face if it were to consistently "flout" the rules and refuse travellers access despite the Star Alliance policy?

I have had a couple of stories come back on some friends or friends of friends who have been turned away as you've mentioned. They have quoted the rules and one even brought a print out; that said they did not wish to be stubborn after one go so they just went to the NZ lounge, even though I told them that they were well within their rights to stand their ground.

SQ have been doing it forever as far as I can tell. And the impression is that *A feels it needs SQ more than SQ needs *A.

That seems to be very true and contributes to their "immunity", amongst other things which people often accuse them of being against the spirit of the alliance.

I suppose if they won't let you in, they won't let you in (and they can always quote the "get out" excuse.....)
