Testing Double zip compression bags.

I've used compression vacuun bags a lot and think theyre amaxing, unless they leak..as for ironing. I like to iron, and my hotel room arrival routine is usually to iron all my clothes for that particular stay anyway so it doesn't bother me.

I find that pants you could gey away without ironing, but shorts, after being xomoressed orobably do need an iron if you're heading into work or so.

As for those shirt folding systems, i find these to be the most pointless - i must be doing something wrong as they dobt keep clothes wrinkle free AND they and being bulky in my bag.

I'm stilk awaiting my Qubix but look forward to seeing if mu exoeexperi is the dane

These days in Europe, well the places I stay at, there are no ironing boards and irons. Suits me just fine.

I hate ironing when I am away, even if you do have an iron and small ironing board in the room.
Ironing time is time I could be out sightseeing.

I have taken a long time to device a ‘capsule wardrobe’ always consisting of just two interchangeable colours, and few patterned tops or scarves, but must admit the best packable clothes are more suited to temperate climates (not tropical) where I would prefer to wear breathable cotton or linen.
However with all that ironing required or else looking like I travelled and slept in the linen top..that isnt an option.

I can’t use synthetics at all which is a shame as they don’t crush. Linen - perfect fabric for heat but just too crushable.

How come someone hasnt invented uncrushable linen by now !! I wont wear linen either - it looks like a rag 30 seconds after I have put it on !!

It looks like they are out of stock at the moment. Do they actually compress anything?
They sure do. From 9cms to 4 on a puffy jacket. You can see the same effect as you get with the vacuum style ones. You end up with a hard flat bag.

You get to wear shorts to work!?

What is this iron thing that people keep talking about :)

Amen! All my work shirts are "iron free". Everything else I was it gets hung up straight away and usually drip dries pretty uncreased.

For double zip compression of tshirts, wrap dresses, underwear, merino tops when travelling with a back pack - i like these eagle creek ones as they add virtually no extra weight (but not big enough for super bulky items like a down jacket in which case Id use something like what Pushka posted).

The point of compressing is to fit more in your bag but not at the expense of a much heavier bag from the compression bag itself.

I also like them for packing a change of clothes in my carry-on - as I can pull things out of my bag without risking any underwear falling out. Also great for separating dirty and clean clothes while travelling.

Hmm my 6yr old "smartphone" isnt thr thr best at spell checking-in amymore...

Over on Indiegogo, some recipients are reporting the large compression bags are splitting with only minimal pressure. Hoping mine dont suffer this, when (if???) They arrive.

I'm actually not hating it as much now, stitching is holding up very well so far

Well, just got around to testing the Woolworths travel bags and I’m quite happy with the result.

This will be my bulkiest item.

It compressed very quickly and easily.
I didn’t use compression bags but my down jacket packs into a little bag. It doesn’t take up a lot of room - last time I took it in my carry on backpack/daypack. I think I’ll investigate packing cubes though I do have some small ziplock compression type ones I use for underwear.
Thanks Denali for the details on the double zip ones.

My opinion. But packing cubes, the simple ones, are only good for organising. I've used them once to actually have a 'bag' per day, well not quite but you get my drift.

I try to go carryon only when i travel, and if i jnow ill5 be showering at a lounge, i might put all the clothing i need into one bag so i don't need to rummage through seperate bags.

The better packing cubes are the compression type, like the Eagle Creek spectre, or you can get knock off brands for much cheaper from Amazon (even the Australian amazon). With these you get the organisation but also save space, the only drawback being creasing of clothing.

This is what the other half uses.

For our last trip I used packing cubes. They certainly made things far more organised.
Hoping Big W have them on sale for boxing day
And these are great in places that don’t require bulky clothing to be packed.
