Have a friend in Turkey atm learning Turkish. About the only social media comment was related.
Oh and another smart Alec wondering if we were all going to be Turkey now - they know who they are.
So very sad and what is the next level of security that we legit people will have to do when going to airports
In Japan, you get checked on the bus upon entry to the actual airport - security board and review your passports (I'm not sure if they actually check the bus itself for explosive devices attached to the undercarriage).
I still support visiting Turkey, but this will obviously change things for some.
Our daughter and her friend came home from Istanbul and other parts of Turkey last week. Initially we pleaded with her to change her plans however her 'free spirit' and determination not to be dictated to by terrorists fell on deaf ears. Little did we think this would happen... crazy world we live in.
They stopped doing that at Narita a while ago. Do they do it at any other airports there? None that I can think of.

Only way they could get around it would be like CNX - X-ray luggage and you walk through metal detectors prior to entry to the terminal. <snip>.
AU is (slowly) moving to getting vehicles away from the front of the terminals. That is why ADL redesigned their forecourt to be pedestrian only, and MEL is moving the approach roads to the other side of the short term parking building.I wonder now whether checks will be done further out as new Standard in Australia? Before entering the airport !
Qantas flies over Turkey! I remember looking at Istanbul thinking how brightly lit it is in the early hours flying over to LHR. Devastating news.
