Just got a warning about my flight saying there is going to be no Inflight entertainment. I see this as poor show for whats supposed to be a full thrills airline so I complained via their form not thinking anything of it

When, got an email back " I have credited 2,000 Qantas Points to your Frequent Flyer account. "

Better than nothing I suppose!

Welcome aboard @pjwellsey - anything is better than nothing

Had that on a recent SYD-MEL 737 service but actually managed to use the app to fly ahead so cannot comment on what actually eventuated. Perhaps a couple of 737s are buzzing around without wifi or entertainment.

Slightly off topic but whats on the app is different to whats on the screens so actually prefer when on a purely wifi flight as Im watching a series only available on Q Entertainment

You're not guaranteed in-seat IFE on 737's anyway, so the upfront SMS is probably a positive in this case as you can prepare your own device if needed.

If I was given 2000 points for that, even better! That's more then what you get for flying the route itself.

I'd be more annoyed if it was a long haul international though.

welcome to this forum... and at least you got some prior warning for it and also at least some compensatory points for it... but as @kpro asked, is it domestic or international flight?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can you stream on the in flight wifi...tried it last week and was getting 10 seconds of play and 30 seconds of bufferring. Useless. Speedtest said 10Mbps. Facebook and browsing worked slowly.

I generally have no problems watching YouTube on SYD <> MEL. But some other things load slow. I remember trying to change my seat on a CX flight mid flight to MEL and it loaded only once.

About a year ago l boarded a Qantas 787 LAX-MEL and found there was no IFE available.. Luckily l had a laptop full of movies, so l just grabbed it and started watching..

Little did l know (until l paused for a break and stood up) that about half the Business class cabin were watching over my shoulder, lol.. I'll never travel without a pre stocked laptop having had that experience.

Shared between how many?

2000 points is quite generous for a short SYD/MEL flight, especially with advance notice.

At current valuations of 1.8c/p, that equates to $36.

I’d give up my IFE for $36.

In fact even for international $36 would pay for me to rent enough movies on my iPad to last the flight, with a far better range.

10 was what I was getting...no idea of what I am supposed to get or if the people closer to the antenna stole the wifi before I got it? I was row 5 if that matters. Plane was pretty full.
I was trying to watch the F1 on Kayo...so probably a bit more data than youtube.
I just want to know if others can actually watch proper streaming TV.

It didnt really bother me as BNE - CNS is only long enough for an episode of Friends anyway.

Have travelled plenty of times without entertainment working. Sometimes it just a few seats or half the plane. Either way I wouldn’t want them to cancel my flight because of it.

Be grateful you weren’t on was it Swiss Airlines which crashed following the in flight entertainment systems catching fire.

Take the points and why not read a book. Personally I prefer to read a book or magazine.

Have found the US airlines will give you voucher for use on a flight. United transpacific flight, no in flight entertainment for some seats, got to LAX and told a voucher for $500 was waiting for me.

It wouldn't worry me overly, as I generally only use the IFE to watch the map. But I always carry a good selection of TV shows and movies on my laptop.

I wouldn't complain at the offer of 2,000 points, though.

I've had this a few times on long hauls and have had various $100 and $200 compensation.

I don't know what I was doing 30 years ago but Scoot SYD-SIN last week was one of the longest 8 hours I've ever spent on a flight. No IFE and I won't pay extra for it and after 1 hour time went slower and slower. Wife asleep and daughter asking me the time every few minutes.
