Tasmanian Tigers, or Devils.? A shocking trip into the deadly and unknown....

I bit my tongue. It is rude to belittle a hosts passion. Even in the midst of War, I respect those conventions. I managed to conceal my pity, and attempted a strategy, as you do when truly feeling ashamed of your host, to allow them a second chance at redemption. So I tried to change the subject. I inquired as to non-curricular activities, how the uni was going in those?

This drew blinding beams of proud light from his eyes. he rushed us to admire the new sports complex they have added:

He followed this up with a tour of the ultra-modern student accommodation. Apparently they have been very successful (following S.A. in this) with their attraction to high-paying (luxury?) student experiences from overseas learners. Their intent was to harvest the cream - people from Saudi and and the Sultanate of Brunei, but due to their sheer quality of offering, the beds are filled by even better targets - surnames emblazoned on doors that reminded me of people I have met in Somalia and Haiti. :

After the tour of student digs, I wanted to see something even I had heard of - the ultra-modern / sky city living / 200% renewable eco / Greta-approved new wing. And the Geo proudly took us there - and it was spectacular.

I was absolutely blown away by this. It is Man at his best in the modern era. What could be mistaken for old bricks is apparently an ingenious super-connected array of clay-cells. These are not only made from simply EARTH (can you beleive that??) but they provide a natural and eco-complaint barrier against the sun. They actually manage to construct these using LOCAL materials!! In the recent glowing self-aware passage of human history, these suckers can actually be taken down and re-used for a future dwelling or construction!! The mind boggles at just how far we have advanced!! Due to the very cold winters, they even included design features such as a modern equivalent of chimneys. These used to burn wood and produce nasty carbon. Now they are phenomenal - they are fed using renewable local sources of replenishable carbon sources, All you have to do now is plant a tree!! I was, quite understandably, shocked and admiring of this new tech. So credit where credit is due - these are ok.

Following the pre-dawn evacuation from the hell of the previous four days in the trenches of the Southern Front, my evacuation mercy flight landed me 30 minutes early at 0835h in PERfection, so anxious were my QF saviours to give me beach time on a PERfect day.

A little over an hour later and I was on Swanbourne Beach to a barely-concealed ;) :cool:rapturous Hero’s welcome home from the war zone.

And a handy 5-click SC* burn to rid my body of Southern Front chemical warfare.

Diving into the nitty gritty, I wanted to see where students and professors7 modern refec.jpg are fed. And it shook me how they have managed to surpass (on a Tasmanian budget - sorry for the jibe) anything I expected.

Take the current first lounges of Qantas and Emirates around the globe. Each has a different philosophy. Qantas goes for functional but pleasing design. Emirates for sheer cheap bling. But here at Hobart University refec, they have smashed both these :) They have managed to provide, yet again, an ultra-modern yet classical take:

Lunch was great until I stumbled and made a bad comment to one of RooFlyers cronies. I innocently asked about the "heritage" picture on the wall. This led to moments of confusion until I realized that this is their leader. i tried to explain the concept of Scomo, but their disbeleif of a change in ruler actually touched on me as an equally valid belief:

The rest of that day was a murky affair - perhaps one I willingly engaged in. After the reality that RooFlyer and all there still follow King George, I simply transformed to what I do best - going with the flow, drinking their poison, and surviving. This tactic allows me to lead into the next day...

I reached a point that I was more than happy to leave. I simply did not want to be a pawn in the Geo's madness. So in a rare moment I took what could be thought of the Coward's Way. i fled. And despite short-lived, it was glorious. I got the very best view of Tassie that anyone could possibly get - from my summonsed Colombian fastboat:

cough those tiger-eating, cherry-swallowing lunatics.

I reached what I thought was salvation - the pick-up ship. Innocently boarded a heli. But then immediately driven straight back down to the mayhem. With the awful knowledge that my boss is part of the scam. He wants me to also prove I can survive this....
