TAP Air Portugal *A status match challenge

No - not unless they re-introduce it again after Alaskan joins OW, next year!

We can only hope!

Did anyone who applied for and was successful get an update to their status or digital card as yet? They'd initially indicated it would be done by April 20th, but I didn't see any changes.

Never mind - looks like the folks at TAP have just given things a nudge. I’ll take that expiration date with a grain of salt... though awesome if it’s for real, of course!

Hi. Some advise please. I am QF platinum. I have applied for the TAP Miles & Go card and it has been successful. In applying I added my platinum card to the application. I now realize that I need to register with Club TAP Miles & Go in order to get the promotion of elevated status with TAP. On reviewing the TAP website I can find alot of information regarding the Club TAP Mile & Go, but cannot find an application form. Does anyone know where to find this, or am I just an idiot?

Do you specifically have to join a club, or can you just purchase a minimum amount of miles?

It's one or the other... but the general advice seems be to steer clear of the Club option (unless perhaps you are a regular flyer on TAP). I purchased the minimum amount of miles and it worked fine for me; cheaper, too.

Cheers,
Matt.

Yep :)

Just checked the updated T&Cs for the April promo and this is still the case.

From the TAP website:

Once you have signed up you must join a Club TAP Miles&Go or purchase miles at our miles store in order to be eligible for Silver or Gold status.

Ok just applied and bought the minimum number of miles so here is hoping that I get to use it one day and they extend it to 2022

Registered and bought my miles. Hopefully all OK. Should I receive information from TAP detailing that I have done this promo so therefore eligible for the elevated status? Do I need to contact them? As one day left basically want to make sure I have ticked all the boxes. (May not get any use out of it if travel restrictions continue into the distance future, but thems the breaks)

Hi StevoQFtraveller - I don't recall getting anything at the time of competing the required actions, but I did get an e-mail 2 weeks later which confirmed my application for the status challenge was successful. See up-thread, post #9 for this.

Cheers,
Matt.

I applied on Tuesday and received an email Friday to say my challenge had been accepted and I would get an email and my digital card by the 16th May

It would be great if someone could clarify how to maintain gold status under the current status match offer? More out of interest, since i doubt it's relevant right now ---

1) I haven't flown TAP before but it seems that you can fly on other Star Alliance airlines and earn Bonus Miles, which you can then transfer into Status Miles - is that correct and is it a 1:1 match?

2) It seems you need to fly on 4 TAP flight segments - is that marketed or operated flights?

Thanks!

Just a quick update on my status match request..... I was declined. I hadn't read the fine print too well, this status match was only for new members. As an existing TAP Miles&Go member, I was ineligible.

Dear Mr

Thank you for your interest in the TAP Miles&Go Programme Status Math (sic) Campaign.
However, we regret to inform you that your Application for the Status Match Campaign has been Excluded.
According to the Point 2.1. of the Campaign's Regulations, only TAP Miles&Go customers registered after January 1st, 2020 are eligible.

oh oh - had you already purchased the miles as well?

I have about 2000 miles there from a business class trip last September but I've never purchased any miles.
Ah, righto - well it's good that you didn't, given ineligibility on the membership... but without having purchased miles or a Club TAP subscription, you also wouldn't have been eligible, even as a new member:

3.1. Approval Criteria
Applications subject to Validation will be eligible for Approval if the Client / New Client purchases 1 (one) or more of the following TAP Miles&Go Products:
  1. Purchase of miles from the TAP Miles&Go Store;
  2. Subscription to any Club TAP Miles&Go.
Not to worry, either way - as I'm not sure the matched status will even be there by the time the INT flight shackles come off us!

Cheers,
Matt.
