MsYearlylonghaul and I are travelling to UK next Sunday on QF1 and want to take 2 prints on canvas of aboriginal paintings. They fit into a single mailing tube 90mm diameter x 850mm long. Do you suppose that will be problem with check-in staff to have as carry-on. We will each have a small suitcase that satisfies carry-on requirements as well as the mailing tube.
Any advice? (I am FF Bronze but have Qantas Club membership).
Thanks - Philip

I've never had any issues when travelling with similar mailing tubes with maps/prints. As it is relatively light weight, and fits up in the overhead locker there shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Phillip, no problem at all - in the days of (pre-covid and now resuming) travel for conferences you would often see many such tubes being placed in the overhead bins.

Absolutely fine. I once took a 4ft didgeridoo in a tube as hand luggage and was only asked what was in it.
