Hi

I am looking at a rather long flight from Taiwan to Sydney, via Singapore.

I note that the number of miles to upgrade to business class is the same from Sydney to Singapore (both 35K).

Is it worth the upgrade considering I will probably be flying a 777 and a 747 home (not A330 or A380)? Or should I save the miles and experience the 'new' business class. For the record, I have clocked up a few miles but apart from jet star's star class, I've never flown anything but economy.

Thanks

I would make sure I am on an aircraft that has international seating not regional J. I would suggest that the overnight flight from SIN to SYD is the flight I would be looking to upgrade.

35K well spent for a comfy seat if you ask me.

Ooops. Its Singapore Air I'm flying, not Qantas. Sorry.

And I just did a dummy booking, its going to cost 33750 miles + $270 with out an upgrade. So I am hoping that the upgrade will actually be less than 37500 miles, otherwise booking it outright and pocketing the difference would be a much smarter move.

Upgrade booked online will cost 26,250 miles with current 25% off promo. So maybe worth just booking the seat and pocketing the difference.

But if booking upgrade, be wary of conditions though:
- The 25% discount for online redemption of flights upgrades from Economy Class to Business Class is only valid for commercial tickets purchased online in S, Y, B, E fare classes on Singapore Airlines and Y, B, E fare classes on SilkAir.
- Only Standard and Full upgrade awards are available for redemption on B777-300ER flights.
- Only Standard and Full awards for upgrade from Economy to Business are available for redemption on A380 flights. No redemption for upgrade to the Singapore Airlines Suites is available.

Standard costs double saver rates (ie 52.5K after discount) and Full .... well don't bother.
