T-80 OLCI: is there a nifty calculator for this purpose ?

The calculation is simple it is remembering that is difficult.

And the need to have access to a computer at the right point in time as well is never easy.

I generally do it from my iPhone! And I'm up every day at 03:00 anyway so no real issues here.

It would be good to get a reminder message though. However my fear would be that if such a tool were available then more and more people would be aware of T-80, which would result in less availability of premium seats.

They don't do mental arithmetic any more - probably don't need to with all the electronic aids. I am so old I know how to use a slide rule...... The main problem I have with T-80 is being awake at the correct time. I might be able to do the maths in a flash but we geriatrics need our sleep.....

If you're that old just remember to change the seats during one of the myriad nocturnal visits to the loo.

I too learnt how to use a slide rule at school and later had a job where quick and accurate mental arithmetic was essential so can calculate the time in my head but also have an excel spreadsheet with all of my flights listed including the T-80 time and points/SCs earnt etc. Quite handy for keeping track points posted etc.

Then you'd need a reminder (iPhone, Outlook, Google Calendar..) to check the spread sheet with its T-80 times.

Or you can set up so that is loaded up on booting the computer.

Prior to hitting P1 I used to have a reminder in outlook at T-80 - worked well.

I work for an overseas boss with teams in Miami, the UK and Spain with family in Cyprus so I have to know constantly what time it is in other jurisdictions so find it strange that people don't instinctively know this sort of stuff.

My usual T-80 outlook reminder worked for me this morning, 4D to Adelaide on Friday evening. Qantas could do with a clock on their website. My watch is fairly accurate and it seems to always be T-79 days, 23 hours and 50 mins for me when the seat selection opens up.

Once you got "3 days earlier and then 8 hours off" in your head, I find it dead easy. Now the real problem usually starts when my "T-80" alarm goes off right when I'm in the middle of some stupid hour-long work meeting

"Excuse me for a minute I need to take my medication which I forgot at my desk"....

Schedule an appointment along with the T-80 alarm. I have been known to refuse meetings over T-80 times.

T-80 is giving some funny results today. The missus and I (both SG) are returning from Adelaide on Sunday evening. She can select 5F (with 5E empty next to her) yet the furthest forward I can get is 7C. We are on separate bookings as her trip was booked through work and mine personal. Will 5E be her shadow or is something strange going on? I did not think SG was important enough to have a shadow?

Between Capital cites, flights on Friday & Sunday Evenings along with Monday mornings can often be elite heavy and T-80 seat selection can be problematic.

Since Platinum One has been introduced I have also had issues getting premium seats with a lot of my bookings on Friday nights where as Sunday nights appear to be a little easier.
