Hi Friends,

Some of us keep an eye on the T-80 for a variety of reasons.

It's a hassle to work out the precise time with respect to your departure time.

It certainly messes up my head every time I tried.

What's your hassle-free method of working out your T-80 time ?

There is some website converting one time zone into another but I cannot find a simple way to determine the T-80 from a known time (say, Departure 7:35am Sunday 3rd Feb)

Thanks in advance

I always use this website:

Calculator: Add to or subtract from a date and time

Once I've figured out what the time is in the time zone of my departure, I convert it to the time zone I would currently be in (if necessary). Hoping that makes sense!

Precisely what I am after !

Sincere thanks

I will bookmark it as "T-80 calculator" from now on.

Very handy esp. with the added complication of (sometimes) timezone change in between where you are and where your next flight is going to be.

Cheers

I always use Excel. Enter the date/time (e.g 15/03/13 15:25) then use the formula "=A1-80/24" where A1 is the cell of the date/time you entered.

That is also way cool.

Excel remains in my no-go zone actually, only comfortable with Words & PowerPoint.

You guys' ingenuity has no bounds !

I'm sorry but what is so hard about 3 days and 8 hours?

Here you go Saturday, Friday, Thursday 7:35 am - 8 hours 11:35 previous night. = 23:35 Wednesday 30 Jan.

Guarantee I can do that in my head before the webpage even loads.

LOL. Sometimes when excel isn't around, I've been seen using my fingers to count back the 8 hours. :)

Copycat :) its harder with diff timezones as you have to take the local time of flight...

Not really. As T-80 is local time anyway. So you still work that out and then apply the time difference depending on where you're going to be.

I just enter my flights into my Outlook calendar with the correct timezone then set a reminder for 80 hours prior.

Sync's with my Blackberry, so even if the computer's not on I get a reminder.

In my flight planner spreadsheet I also have the formula noted previously.

Google calendar lets you set different types of reminders at arbitrary times. I put in my flight details with the appropriate TZ, and then set an SMS notification to go off 80 hours before departure. After a few regular flights the time for T-80 becomes somewhat routine.

.
They don't do mental arithmetic any more - probably don't need to with all the electronic aids. I am so old I know how to use a slide rule...... The main problem I have with T-80 is being awake at the correct time. I might be able to do the maths in a flash but we geriatrics need our sleep.....
