Sydney to get second international airport

As a brissy boy, I am not completely in the know about Sydney's airport but my short experiences there are that its way too crowded.

However, is there certain reasoning behind having this second airport so far out? Is there any rules on international airports being too close to each other? What about other locations for the airport. I'm thinking most of sydneys population on the whole live west of the CBD so maybe thats why its going west. I'm wondering if the new airport will become kind of like OOL whereby cheaper international flights will go there. Eg. your Scoots, AirAsia, HongKong Airlines etc.

I definitely think some sort of transportation upgrade will be needed to get there. I read everyones comments about train and it could work similar to heathrow express perhaps??
What's everyones best case scenario for this airport in terms of the following:
1. Type of Airport for it to become (eg. budget like a London City airport vs. normal airport like Kingsford smith)
2. Transportation to/from (eg. train and what type of train, high speed vs standard all stops train; maybe taxis or UBER to set up a standard fare if within 20km/40km/60km of airport??
3. Benefits of the airport itself (eg. ease congestion around kingsford smith, make airfares more competitive in pricing, more range of flights?)

i wonder if it would be cheaper to offer to buy any homes affected by allowing the current airport to go 24 hours with no artificial movement restrictions. i'm sure there'd be plenty of willing buyers of the properties willing to trade a bit of noise with being closer to the city.

It is Sydney. The new buyers would still complain and demand the airport be shut down while at the same time embarking on noisy 6am to 10 pm rennovations of their new properties.

B- creek is not far from cbd without traffic, and is close to where most people in Sydney live.

If you buy a property knowing an airport expansion is going ahead i doubt those not affected will have much sypmathy for you, especially if the govt can show they had to pay more to aquire the property than they could sell it.

When do the sydney roads and motorways have little traffic?

Years ago, someone bought land right next to a very busy Australian military base. He then started complaining about the noise, especially the aircraft doing "unnecessary" aerobatics as they flew back to base. Called an 'initial and pitch', it's the way all fast jets come home. It was all there long before he arrived. I think his whining was noisier than the jets.

Similar tactics by Luna Park neighbours

Although they did build a new rollercoaster that was substantially larger and closer to apartments than what previously existed.

Those at Sydney West will at least know that traffic will continue to grow
