Hi Everyone,

I'm really excited to be a member on the forums finally! I just have a really small question. I'm flying to Sydney this Thursday and will be arriving into terminal 2. From a few years back I remember that I took a Qantas bus to the International terminal during my stop-over. I will not be arriving on a Qantas flight, and I was wondering if I can take the Qantas bus to the International terminal for free? From what I remember is that they don't check if you're actually a passenger on a QF flight.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

If you next fly is on Qantas you can use bus with no problem but be warned! it has moved from to new gate near other end of terminal

All you need is an onward international QF BP. They neither know nor care how you arrive.

They normally require a boarding pass, given you have to clear security just to catch a bus I would be grabbing the train.

Thanks so much for the quick replies! The train looks like an option... My friend just suggested to me that I should walk! Now that would be an interesting experience wouldn't it?

Actually I had a look at the map, and a walk along Qantas drive wouldn't be too bad. I don't have much luggage... So maybe it'd be alright.

Remember that you can only use the QF transfer bus with hand luggage so I'm guessing if you are arriving at T2 it will be on an airline who does not through check your bags onto the QFi flight.

So in a nutshell if you've got hand luggage only (HLO) just walk from T2 to T3 & jump on the QF transfer bus (have your itinerary handy or boarding pass if you've done online checkin (OLCI). If you do have checked bags they will probably only be tagged to SYD in which case you'll have to collect them at baggage claim in T2 then proceed to the railway station & take the train one stop around to the international terminal to checkin for your QF flight.

Forget it, there is not even a footpath from memory on the southern side, train is $5.

Couldn't agree more. Some years ago I caught the domestic leg of an international flight BNE to SYD and had a couple of hours to kill before meeting up with colleagues at the domestic terminal, so decided to take a stroll (Not even HLO, just briefcase).

Nowhere at all to walk, some interesting views, but several detours. Not recommended at all.

I have done it, but it was some time ago - it's a bit over 4km.

Don't even think of using the south side. Even on the north side will have the pedestrian looking for anything like a path.

You need to almost walk past/beside the International terminal before the taking a pedestrian underpass beneath the bridge over the "Cooks River" just before it crosses the river.

Train's the way to go, man. Train's the way to go.

I'm arriving in SYD on QF domestic at 9pm then overnighting at Rydges before a morning QF international departure. Does anyone know if I will be able to use the transfer bus? I'm assuming they will give me a boarding pass when I check in in MEL. Before anyone asks, hand luggage only.
