About time:

Faster security screening at International
We’re modernising the departure experience at T1 International by bringing in new

security screening technology and automated bag processing to help passengers move through faster and more easily. This means security wait times, which you can now view on our website, will be faster.

The introduction of 15 new CT scanners will expedite passenger flow each day without the need to remove laptops or tablets from carry-on bags.

Once complete, passengers departing International will pass through airport security prior to passport control with improvements to the T1 security hall targeted for completion in Q4 2025.

This makes so much more sense, as if the person has something they cant carry-on they can easily walk back to check-in counter/bag drop and check the item in (or call friend/family member to come and get it), rather than having it confiscated.

They were all pretty much running a few weeks ago (maybe one or two to go). It’s strangely more efficient having security before the eGates - more than just the better machines.

Putting aside the better screening tech, I actually dislike the newer machines where multiple people can approach at once. If you’re at the end, you can still end up waiting for non match fit PAX fart cough arounds getting their sh$t together.
