Jetstar is starting flights from OOL - ICN next week. Consequently there will also now be some 787-8 flights timetabled to and from the Gold Coast each week ex Sydney and Melbourne. Might be a better option than those awful A320s or even Virgin economy.

Seoul flights look a tad empty next week. First flight in is not even half full. I’m not sure if they are targeting Korean or outbound Aussie travellers here?

There are also over 100,000 of us Korean-Australians too, as well as students who might be willing to fly JQ.

I suspect this flight will be skewed more towards inbound traffic from Korea, which is why the codeshare partnership with Jeju Air is so important.

The MEL departure in the morning isn't great... a bit too early and I find the lunch menu better in the F lounge. Same goes from SYD. As someone who used to take JQ35 far too often, these timings wouldn't make me book for the experience. That said, I am considering a visit to South Korea in the future, if the service survives.

Unsure what are the requirements for Pilots to continue retaining their flight accreditations, however would 787 domestic flights be a feasible solution for the short term?

With 787’s not returning to service until at least late March 2021, could we see a Domestic Travel Boom where a wide body could be an option?

The Qantas group could funnel 787 Pilots through these domestic flight ops.

Once the WA border is open, I know there will be great interest to travel to Cairns & Gold Coast, would be fantastic to see a JQ 787 ploy WA-QLD.

I'm not 100% sure but I was under the impression that hours done in a simulator are sufficient.

Whilst some flights are full, many others aren't and I couldn't see them filling a full 787 unless over the really peak periods like Christmas/Easter. Most uses of widebodies are for freight purposes hence there are still some QF A330's flying around.

Regarding the WA border... I don't think anyone is ever going to be allowed into WA ever again 🤣. Jetstar isn't even operating any scheduled flights to/from/within WA right now.
