Hi all
I have a very short notice business trip planned (interesting word to use there). I am flying out from Sydney as follows and was wondering what sort of trip I am in for.

I am flying business Syd-LAX and then "First" LAX to Dallas and economy Dallas to Pittsburgh

The details are:

13-Jul - QF107 Sydney to Los Angeles (Business)

Depart SYD 10:50
Arrive LAX 0:710 (Term 4)

13 Jul AA2440 LAX to Dallas/Fort Worth (First)

Depart LAX 10:06 (Term 4)
Arrive Dallas 15:13 (Term C)

13 Jul Dallas to Pittsburgh (Econmy)

Depart Dallas 17:46
Arrive Pitts 21:25

I am Qantas Silver and Qantas CLub member

I am travelling with a Qantas bronze (non Qantas club)

Given I have about 3 hours in each stopover I was wondering what the lounges would be like, what I should to make sure I dont lose FF points/SC for AA flights. This is a pretty rare flight for me - normally I am going to Asia of straight to New York so dont have a burning desire to join AA.

My colleague is travelling the same class as me except LAX-Dallas as I got the last First class seat.

Any thoughts would be great

Cheers

S

As a QF QP PS you are entitled to avail yourself of the Admirals Club Lounges. You are also entitled to bring a guest.

This is mentioned here: Access to Partner airline lounges and refers to 'your guest'.

I doubt you'll be able to use the Flagship Lounge in LAX even though you are travelling F since the DFW flight is not considered 'transcontinental'.

Ensure they give you drink vouchers at the AC's if you are after a drink or three (otherwise you would need to pay).

In case you are not aware, you may need to change terminals at DFW. AA operates out of Terminals A, C and D. You can catch the Skytrain to move between terminals fairly easily. Details can be found here: http://www.dfwairport.com/transport/connect.html

Other than international (which is only D but note some domestic also uses D) there is no guarantee which terminal you get. So if connection is tight the best bet is to listen to the FA while taxiing as she reads out the list of gates, preferably with a copy of the terminal map (found at the back of the American Way magazine) on hand to plot the best route to transfer. Failing that, you'll need to find the banks of monitors showing departure gates.

I have found it is rare for AA to change terminals for flights, so the on-line schedules/sytsems are generally accurate at least as far as the terminal is concerned. And the Skytrain is a huge improvement for getting between terminals. Its now a quick and easy exercise, and all air-side so no need to clear security to get to the next terminal.

Thanks for that.

Yeah we got a bit confused so we took the monorail pretty much all the way round the entire terminal to get back almost to where we started :D

Mind you being on the tarmac for 50mins waiting to unload was less than fun :(

@NM - Dude you were so right about the trip length - never want to do that again.... mind you doing it in reverse in two weeks. At least we migth get to sleep on the business class element on the way back.

I will do a bit of a blog in a couple of days to update on my trip.... the long flight is the probably going to be the least hard work of the trip - firsdt day was 9AM to 9PM....
