Tried searching is another thread existed but couldn't find anything.

SYD domestic bit of a shambles this morning around 550am. Queues out the door for security check point when I arrived.

Also, what's the rational behind the new P1 car park? Why would they reduce capacity for parking by demolishing the parking tower that was there previously and changing to open air parking?

The old multi-storey car park was demolished due to concrete cancer. What you see is temporary until they sort out what they want to do. You can read a Sept 2025 draft Master plan here
