I heard that Emirats had special offers for Sydney Mumbai (around $1400) , but cant find it anywhere.
Does anyone knows about the deal? is it still available?

I tried the EK website and got a price of $1372. I did a dummy booking in April next year.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the travel dates.
I am planning to travel in december. and the offer was available for december.

What do you mean by 'EA Website' can you give me an address?

Emirates | Welcome to Emirates.com

I would expect Dec to be a tough time for cheap deals - my parents were flying out on 20 Dec to SYD from DXB and the flights were sold out on the day that the tickets were available.

Just checking around that date again - not looking good - much to late to book I fear...

Have you tried Cathay/DragonAir via HKG?

I am going to BOM in Nov and a trip via HKG has been pretty competitive.

No not tried yet.
The best I got from travel agent was 2500 by thai airways. So checked on Qantas website and got 2489.

Will try dragon air now. Are there any websites i can have a look? or do i have to call the agents everytime?

December is an incredibly difficult time of the year to get deals to India on. The peak season is from early Dec to late January on most airlines.

I would suggest going through a specialist Indian travel agency such as Air Travel Express or Best & Less Travel, if you are in Sydney. They can usually get you deals for around $1800-2000 for December.

Jet often have some very good SIN-India (less frequent to BOM) fares, however they're generally only available through Singaporean travel agents. So if you're desperate, have a look at that, but looking at Jet via their website will appear to be very expensive.

Just booked ADL to BLR via SIN the other day - the reverse trip (priced out of India) is FAR cheaper.

If you want cheap try Tiger Airways (or a Tiger / Jetstar combo) via SIN although I don't think they go quite as far as BOM.

Checked most of them, all around 2200 avg.
Was hoping that the fuel tax will go down after the drop in fuel price. but doesnt look like thats happening.
I cannot do the reverse booking (from india), think its allowed only for indian nationals on work/student visa

Sure you can - one way flights. If you book out of India for the return via SIN either Tiger, Singapore Airlines or Jet Airways are all VERY cheap when I booked a flight about a week ago. But the second two were much higher for the flight into India.

Just watch the stopover time in Singapore though, if it is overnight you will have to pay for a hotel which adds to the cost of course. Up to 4 days transit time in SIN with no Visa required for Indian passport holders in transit, longer for Australian passport holders I believe.

Atlast got the good deal from Emirates. 1372.00 only thing is longer journey and couple of stopovers. but saves AUD1000.00
