Sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread. Mods please moved if need be of it's not airline related, delete.
Iam heading to the GWS Giants vs Richmond match this Saturday at Sydney Showgrounds (aka Skoda Stadium).
I notice the airport line trains aren't running and are being replaced by buses to Central. That's a pain.
But then getting out to Sydney Olympic Park station is confusing and I am not sure, even when looking at City Rail's website, whether buses or trains are running from Central out to the stadium, either via Lidcombe or direct.
Can anyone help a dumbo like me work it out?

It's actually OK as the replacement buses are reliable and free. Replacement buses are generally well sign posted.

When you land at the airport, head towards the station as you normally would and there will be staff directing you to the bus stop. Make sure you catch the non-stop bus (from the airport to Central). If you're landing at T2, you should see the bus stop from the Arrivals level. If you land at T3, you'll have to walk through a car park. Regardless, if you worry about getting lost, head towards the train station. The bus stop is generally directly above the train station.

Once you get to Central, catch the train to Lidcombe. Again for this weekend, replacement buses will be in place between Lidcombe and Olympic Park. The train ride from Central to Lidcome will be the only journey you'll need a ticket.

Just make sure you allow a decent amount of time. The buses are free and reliable but take significantly longer than the trains. I've once been caught out when running late for my flight; I didn't realize buses were replacing trains and had I taken the bus I would've missed my flight.

Just a warning, if you are expecting a first world transport system when you arrive into Sydney, you are surely mistaken! Allow for plenty of time due to operational inefficiencies that are likely to result - you have been warned! :)

Replacement buses are not free (with some exceptions, coming from the airport being one), you are still meant to hold a valid ticket to your destination. (if people do is another matter.)

There is no trackwork between Central and Olympic Park this coming weekend. Trackwork - CityRail

To get from The Domestic Airport to Olympic Park , it will be
1) Rail bus from the Airport to Central
2) Train from Central (Plat 4-15) to Lidcombe
3) Train from Lidcombe to Olympic Park.

If no trackwork on Olympic Park line, should be able to go direct from Central to Olympic Park.
Olympic Park trains normally depart from the Country platforms from Central,
or if the bus stops at Redfern you can also get it from their (probably a quicker transfer)

The trains direct to Olympic Park from Central generally only operate for major events. (ie Easter Show,State of Origin, Swans games @ Stadium Aus,etc), there will be none this weekend.

Appreciate the help everyone. Really, really appreciate it.
So from the above posts, do I presume the bus from Domestic to Central is free?

Well that changes everything.
Free bus to Central, South Line train train to Lidcombe and sprint train to Olympic Park.
Easy peasy.

Sorry, I misread, Lidcombe to Olympic Park trackwork is next weekend, not this weekend.

I blame lack of coffee at the time of posting. :)
