Pretty cool - EgyptAir are going to serve Sydney via Singapore from next year. The Facebook post by SYD says it will be on the A350-900s, but the official announcement above says aircraft type to be announced at a later date.

I think many carries now realising the Australia to Europe is quite profitable and very healthy at the moment

I have flown EgyptAir to / from Cairo in Y and J domestically and internationally. Inflight service and food were good but it is a DRY airline from memory ;)

The EgyptAir lounges in Cairo are dire and very average :(

Moreso if you can avoid (most of) the Middle East and Russia?

Cairo would be an interesting place to transit, if that isn't your final destination.

Also, MS is a dry airline. That's not a huge deal for a lot of people, but just saying...

Isn't it one of the airports where you really should keep some US dollar bills on hand to make sure things go smoothly?

Last time I went through CAI (both into and out of Egypt, and on a domestic sector), I didn't have to bribe anyone.

May have helped I was in Business Class for the outbound flights, but didn't seem an issue all up.
