Sydney airport Express passes

We'll be joining the line four weeks today at some time around 3pm. We'll be doing a lot of sitting, or sleeping, by early evening so it won't kill us :)

Just 6 minutes for me from the transfer bus to standing in duty free. Approx 7am.

Around 8pm on a Saturday evening recently, and it was not a problem: 10-12 mins max from stepping off the QF transfer bus to being in the duty free shop. So a wait of 5-7 mins maybe. (The wait for the transfer bus at T3 was much more concerning, tbh. That took forever.)

Midweek about 16:45, from transfer bus (3 minute wait to board, then 4 minute wait to depart) to F lounge restaurant 9 minutes from departure. Very few smart gates operating but only 1-person deep queues so very quick. Security lines almost non-existent though did get shunted to the far right which was a bit annoying (but to a near-empty belt so possibly was quicker).

Was given an express card in Cairns but thought at the time not applicable at the moment and in any event, don't think it's even needed!

I just give them away on this site. I never seem to need to use them.

Definitely no express path despite airlines handing out cards - Delta 2 weeks ago and VA today. Customs guy said there is no express line anymore.

Any updates on when the construction will be finished? I remember reading that the expected date of completion is end of August (although we all know it will be later than that!).

I've been through it when it was quite busy and it only took me about 15 minutes to get through the passport control and security checks.

Went through this morning at peak time. Absolute mess out at curb side (though at least I wasn’t dropped at arrivals level which is the absolute worst pain in the backside...) and no Express line yet.

But, to their credit, it was all quite well managed: All security stations open so even with all the rather, cough cough, clueless Chinese tourists everywhere, I made it through in about 20 minutes. Not exactly Express path but still, not too bad. And my massage at the Qantas Flounge Spa totally made up for the stress ;)

Just went through Monday morning. Total mess, especially at Security but was told that new Express path will be re-opening on August 31st. So hopefully, this was the last time for me.

Wonder how different its going to look? I mean, it was just a rat tunnel with a different door so how improved can our Express Path experience be? Do we get carpeted area with different colour lane markers? 🤣

I'm going through on 22 August and was hoping it'll reopen by then but looks like I'll just miss it by 9 days...
