Advice from the experts ? I have to book a return from Sydney to either Manchester or London ( Economy) but I have an option to catch up with friends in New York for a few days on the way over.

I'm told there are no free stop-overs on this route . Is that true?.

Best option to avoid wasting money ? Round the world: SYD-NYC-LHR-SYD or SYD-NYC-LHR-NYC-SYD or buy two returns SYD-NYC and NYC-LHR ? etc etc

Paying cash or can use Qantas Points.

Thanks :)

I think QF has a fare SYD-DXB-LHR-JFK-LAX-SYD that can be booked using the multicity tool on the website (which is unusual for a RTW type fare). I've seen it as low as AUD2500. The LHR-JFK leg can be on BA or AA.
