Flying Syd to JNB next Tuesday and return 7 May - are the aircraft commonly on route old configuration or is there a chance that new cabins also fly the route?

    Thanks

Have a look at the Qantas Source:
The QANTAS Source - QANTAS Route Tracker.

Seems to quite often get an aircraft with an F cabin which will definitely have old J, but you might get lucky and get in the front cabin.
Occasionally the ER aircraft which are all new cabin, and a smattering of VH-OJS/OJT/OJU which are also new cabin

But looks like a 50% chance of aircraft with new cabin from the last month

Last December was old no-F on QF63, new J mk2 on QF64 a week later.

It seems to chop and change a lot but the old configs are slowly being retired.
