Hi all,

I realise this is a bit of a stupid quesiton, given that the right answer is "whatever you're happy paying", but I'm more after others' experience with sale price vs. regular price.

Currently looking at heading to Singapore next year (end of Jan until late Feb) for a couple of things ex-SIN and would like to fly QF-J mainly for the opportunity to earn some SCs in QFF (maybe I'm mad?). I can currently do it for $3100-3200 return under a "Global Deal" (unsure if this is a sale).
Wondering if this is historically cheap, or if there's likely to be a sale around the corner for much less than this that I should be waiting for?

Alternately if there's a better way to earn QFF status ex-SYD I'm all ears :)

If purely after the SCs for the cheapest price - flying JQ using Business Max from MEL can be had for under $2k.
(generally better booking SYD-MEL separately due to the way JQ prices fares/bundles on multi-leg routes)

I wouldn't expect to see QF much cheaper than $3k - pretty sure Global Deal is a sale fare

SYD-CGK you can get for bang on A$2k return and would get you the same SCs as SIN. And from there to get to SIN its only a short hop offered by many airlines including JQ which would be my preference as you should be able to easily check your bags all the way through to SIN

Thanks for the replies. CGK is worth looking into, I'll do that. Not too keen on JQ mainly as their J seat is Y+ (especially for the return redeye flight). And yeah I did think the current QF price was reasonable. I'll investigate options and work out what's better - but CGK may be a winner. Thanks!

Does anyone feel like a trip to Singapore in Feb haha? Noticed the companion sale come on today- shame I'm solo this trip eh?! (Unless there are any tricks to getting the sale fare solo...)

As SC are a consideration, for the same CGK fare you may consider positioning to MEL or BNE to begin with - it is the same fare. And the final SYD to MEL/BNE/ADL you could use for a later trip, you would just need to arrange the return back to SYD - an extra 80SC.
