Because as a Plat if they forget the welcome gift... a cool $100 is coming your way.
I checked into the SYD Marriott about 730pm last night, no usual welcome from the front desk, no asking which side of the hotel I would like (I prefer the eastern view) and when I got to my room, there was no welcome note with the Plat amenities.
So I waited until this morning to see if anything was forthcoming. Nup.
Wandered to the front desk after breakfast and mentioned to the clerk that I didn't get my welcome gift.
She said to me "You know what that means ?"
I said "Yep, do you?"
She smiled and handed over $100.
Now I know that it is supposed to be $100 us dollars, but I can afford to ignore a $20 "loss"....
Nice to see that there was no arguing, they just ponied up the cash.

As an aside, I have spent 31 nights here at the Syd Marriott thus far this year, and have booked another 25 nights, not including 14 rooms for 2 nights next week for a work function.....

Congrats and well done to the Marriott for living up to their end of the deal without a fight!

Always good to see staff aware of the required policies and procedures...well..eventually. ;)

And so it happens again...
Now at the Sydney Harbour Marriott...
Checked in at 6 pm last night for a 3 night stay (in an executive king Opera house suite for $260 inc breakfast and two free drinks at the bar each night).
Booking made 10 days ago and clearly showing Platinum on the email of confirmation.
Checked in and was actually a bit peeved with the attitude of front desk staff.... they were quite short with me and did not really listen to my request for a wake up call at 6:40 am. Did not get the usual letter welcoming me.
I went to my room, then up to the lounge for a quick drink.

Was in bed by 9, and then got woken by a wake up call at 3:40 am....
3:40 am...
Not 6:40 am.
I decided then and there to go claim my $100.

Front desk staff were not happy to hand over the bucks.. they put up all sorts of barriers until I showed them the confirmation email with my Plat status clearly on it....

So are you going to stop staying at the Marriott(s) in Sydney?:p

I am gonna keep staying till they STOP giving me the money..
I wonder how often they actually pay this out ?
Cant be all that often or the front desk staff would have their collective heads on a platter...
Or they would if it was my business.

So the 330 wake up call hasnt put you off?

Or the rude staff?

$100 doesnt seem to cut it.

Looks like the "discounted stays" are going to keep happening!

I'm a Gold QFF member- but just booked a stay at the Marriott for mid December.

I know that by the time I stay- I'll be Platinum as I've got a few flights in-between.

Couple of Q's.

What are the entitlements of a QF Platinum member when staying at the Marriott? Is there documentation anywhere?

Because when I booked I wasn't Plat- do I still get these benefits? (even though I'll be Plat when I check in)?

Thanks in advance.

I really should read what section I'm posting in- my bad.

Picked up the thread from "new posts"

Cheers serfty
