I am booked on QF107 arriving into LAX at 6.15am next month. I want to do my usual MR to SEA via SFO.

I would normally catch the 9.55am LAX-SFO then onto AS to SEA arriving at 3.10pm

I am thinking of trying to push things and catch the 7.40am LAX-SFO.

Looked on the QF website and AA site to see if they had published MCT's, couldn't find anything of relevance.

85 Minutes is going to be tight, but opinions are requested.

I will only have hand luggage as it is only a weekend visit, flight with QF is in Y. Flight to SEA via SFO will be booked in F class. Separate bookings. Worst case scenario F class allows changes if something went pear shaped

I would not do it.

All you need is for QF107 to be a little late. (never happens ) and or some delays at immigration and customs and you are up the creek without a paddle.

Having said that I had a similar one last year where I allowed 3 hrs and QF93 was 1.5hrs late and we still made it (just). With that one I had notified both AA and QF and they had kept our seats on the booked flight and also rebooked us on a later flight. ie they can be helpful on occasions.

It's a no from me too - anything <2hrs is just too tight at LAX. Even then 2hrs is tight.

You could always waitlist at the gate for the earlier flight if you "fly" through C+I? Although does the fare allow that?

F class (full fare 1st class) fare allows changes at no cost, maybe it would be safer to lock in the later flight and play my cards in the event 107 gets in on time or early, and everything else runs smoothly.
