Hi guys, I'm planning a trip to NY and St Maarten for later in the year and came across a Qantas fare on Skyscanner, SYD-JFK return for $1231 (Aug/Sept)......is this a REALLY good fare or should I perhaps hold out a bit longer? For a newb like myself it looks fantastic.
Intention was to make this my first trip ever in a better class than economy but I've decided to take my daughter along so whY it is, again lol.

Good fare, but which booking site - not all of them are reputable. If this fare is on the Qantas site, I would grab it, especially if travel is before October

Gotcha!
The site is Bestjet. I'm not keen on third party bookings either but is this something I can get matched via Qantas or is it only TA's like Flight Centre that do price matching?

Friend used Bestjet and the price he was charged to his credit card was a lot more than quoted and when he rang them and spoke to a very rude Manager about the overcharging he was advised that the price quoted was not 'live' and by the time Bestjet made the booking in his name the price had increased.

You may want to read up on the Tripadvisor forum re Best Jet and check out other people's dealings to try to make an informative decision.

That really is a very good price. :)

I believe the same fare is available on Qantas.com for $1315 return. I'd pay the little bit extra to book direct, personally.

Would the Bestjet fare be eligible for QF's price promise? Price Promise | Qantas

I'm not related to Best Jet in any way.

I have used them twice on links from Skyscanner. Both times the fares have been exactly as per the site.

Upon reading the tripadvisor reviews which do relate people's experiences, I do think quite a few people expect the cheapest price AND the highest service. Something has to be cut in order to get a better price.

In my case, I'm happy to save the money and use TripIt and my own endeavours to keep an eye on changing flight times.

I am lucky in that I rarely have to change my arrangements and so I don't pay much attention to change fees. Can't comment as to how BestJet. I just know that once a booking is made, any change will be expensive.

I used bestjets price to get flight centre to match it previously without credit card fees.

It's a very good price. I'd buy without delay.
