There seems to be an a good airfare at the moment flying Hainan Airlines from Sydney to Haikou non-stop. Various travel dates in March available for $214 return.

Absolute bargain. Flew with Hainan in June last year SYD-CXS-PEK on the way over and CSX-SYD on return and can’t fault their service or product. Paid around $320 for memory. Used them a couple of times in China for domestic flights on the same trip and even got upgraded a couple of times.
Looks like Hainan has a Visa Landing available for individual Australians as well (15 days according to Timatic), although the SkyTeam Docu site only mentions the other one for groups of 5
