SYD Drinks - 23 October

Survey completed. I'm happy to go with the Pizza suggestion as mentioned in the post. Thanks for the offer of hosting the night Ewing: I look forward to meeting a few more people from the forum. Preferably, I'll be catching the train in from Mascot... how's easiest to get to there? Arrival time for me will depend on when I get away from work (usually around 6ish). I probably won't make it a long or late night... constantly switching back and forth to Daylight saving time is taking it's toll at the moment.

Sounds good.

The easiest way to get here from Mascot is to hop on the train to Central, and then head to platform 24 and hop on a train to Kings Cross.

Pre dinner drinks will be at 15 Bayswater Road - in this building which is less than 100m walk from the station:

The consensus so far is to go to the restaurant for dinner. I'll likely book a table on the weekend :)

I will send my apartment number directly to those people who are attending. There is an intercom which will allow you to enter and go up to the 8th floor :)

Looks like I will be in Syd as well on the 23rd. Can I be part of this?

Absolutely - I'm on a roll - I'll make sure to get Voss water so I make sure I am super fancy

I have Voss (of course. My local Coles stocks it)

It appears that the good people from Vinomofo have visited while I was slaving away at the office also.

This should provide us with sufficient supplies of Vino! (Sorry Hayden)

Sorry, I missed your post :(

You are more than welcome to join.

If you want to join for dinner, please pop some details in the form at Catch Up Drinks Survey - otherwise if you want to join for drinks as long as you're happy with red/white/beer then feel free to drop in. I will send you my details over the weekend.

Unfortunately I have just had something come up at work - have to entertain someone from Melbourne in the city for dinner. Shame, as I was looking forward to seeing your pad! :(

At this stage I will be departing SYD Hilton for Chateau Ewing around 6pm'ish. (Tiger Time - aka subject to change and wild variations).

Anyone else departing around the same time - perhaps cab-share.......

I should be in Melbourne if you are around for a drink.

Hope you all have a good time :)

Hi All,

Based on the responses I've booked a table for dinner at 7:30pm for 6. The following have indicated yes to dinner:

- dfcatch
- dfcatch + 1
- kevrosmith
- Ewing (me!) :)
- Aeolus
- Medhead.

If anyone else wants to come to dinner and hasn't said yes - let me know ASAP (for any extras I'll have to adjust the reservation so it's subject to availability).

All;

Instructions have gone out to those that are coming and haven't been to my place before. If you want to come to drinks and I haven't sent you the details let me know.

Only just noticed this thread to late to join you guys before I head to work? Obviously will not be drinking :p

With the temperature set to reach 35° tomorrow, an appropriate coughtail is in order. I have therefore decided on Pimm's Cup as the coughtail of the day in the Chateau Ewing executive lounge. After an inventory of my beverage cupboard, the drinks selection available will be:

- coughtail du jour: A variation on Pimm's Cup - Pimm's with strawberry, blood orange, cucumber and mint. Mixed with ginger ale and a dash of Hendrick's Gin.
- Hendrick's Gin served with tonic and cucumber.
- 2008 Eagle Vale Shiraz
- 2008 Eagle Vale Chardonnay
- 2012 Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc
- 2013 Wahu Sauvignon Blanc
- Little Creatures Pale Ale
- L&P
- San Pellegrino Sparkling
- Cold still water

This will be accompanied by assorted nibbles - dips, crackers, etc. to hold us off until dinner.

On a more serious note - the fires around Sydney are expected to peak tomorrow and given the past few days it may actually be unpleasant on the balcony. If this is the case; my apartment does have ducted air conditioning and will be kept at a comfortable 22 degrees.
