SYD DOM J Lounge - Dining Improvements

Was in the SYD DOM J lounge this evening and noticed this station set up again despite the lounge being standing room only due to thunderstorms.

Tonight was Chicken tom yum served with steamed rice. The soup was really tasty and fragrant with plenty of chicken and a nice chilli kick. Another winner. 😊

Maybe I was just unlucky but I’m still stuck in said lounge and had this very soup earlier as well. While admittedly super tasty (sour, with good heat from the chillies), the chicken meat was the most cheap inedible chicken carcass one could find. I saw several other people picking out the chicken with a disgusted look on their faces so it wasn’t just me.

Most annoying- that soup station was up for less than two hours. So unless you’re here right during peak hour, you miss out.

Damn! Mine wasn't like that... not sure if it's because I got mine immediately after it was set up just after 5pm. Also hope you found some space in the lounge OK... I arrived just as the storm started to roll over and it took a good 30 mins to get a chair. As I left the lounge there was a mob of easily 80-100 people waiting at the escalators down the bottom to be let in. Fun times 😫

I missed that, I was there too from 3.30-6, that actually looks good to the food they were serving beforehand.

I was in that lounge for over six hours last night but had noticed the soup only shortly before it went out. So must have been the leftover chicken bits on the bottom of the pot then. But totally agree, the taste of the soup itself was really really nice.

Made it to Melbourne on the very last flight in the end and got here around midnight. My luggage did not and Qantas can still not find it even though my AirTag locates it still "somewhere" in Sydney T3

I too missed out, having passed through and left around 3:15pm and it was the usual "brown slop de jour" that I saw.

we almost beat the storm front but alas just got to 34R threshold and it hit the field so we had quite a bit of a wait while it rolled through.

Still got home well before original flights (saw the weather and changed flights in the morning - and very glad I did given the mess it created!).

had I been stuck, I would have loved that soup though!
