SYD airport raises taxi fee to $3

Train, I suggest;)
MacGroup, you are scum! I wish you all the ills the GFC brings you!

The train looks better and better all the time. Took it recently and whilst expensive for a train trip it was still less than half the cost of the taxi and no worries about being taken on a tour of the suburbs.

About the only suggestion I have is that there needs to be a facility to purchase tickets to the airport with credit card from city stations. The limit is a lot more than the cost of a one way ticket. Makes life slightly difficult if you have to put expenses on a corporate credit card.

Still at least you get to keep the ticket when you leave the station at the AP.

Although work has a policy of using a driver to pick up and drop off for day trips to SYD, I sometimes grab a puddle jumper from Thrifty and drive myself. I have a spare citylink etag im my lappy bag so toll's are not an issue, the small cars use bugger all fuel, and rental is low even with the airport fee.

Too and from Sth Syd by taxi or driver is x2 the usual cost of renting a puddle jumper.

Mr!

They are scum!

How can they justify this?

Surely there has gotta be some regulation involved?

Totally agree!!!

Not impressed by having to pay $7 just for the privilege of picking up my parents who have already arrived before I got to the airport.

Don't consumers deserve some kind of protection?

Gouge, gouge, gouge.

Oh look! A captive market!

GOUGE GOUGE GOUGE.

So where is the current $2.50 going? Why isn't that enough to pay for the desired upgrades?

Regardless, how about they look at that submission they made a few months' back about the AirportLink being "too expensive," while at the same time lambasting it for other issues such as not being frequent enough and not have carriages the right size for travellers.

Based on the Macquarie model, his submission should have complained about the infrastructure and then proposed a 20%+ increase in fares to accommodate them. Or was he just being hypocritical?

I know it is only an extra $0.50 but this is an absolute joke. Isn't there some govenrment body that monitors these exhorbitant airport costs, including parking, and is game enough and has the power to do something about it?

Just as well my father cares enough to help me at all costs and drives me to/from SYD airport on my weekly commutes....

I wouldn't rule out being charged for that either. Look out for an e-tag gantry on entry to the Domestic Terminal.

Would they do the same for pedestrians? If they introduced a fee to enter the terminals by car then I would walk from O'riardan Street to Terminal 3 as it is only a ~15 minute walk. :-|
