Just got a news flash, a suspected bomb has been discovered in a suitcase on a German bound plane from Namibia, and comes just 1 day after a warning by one of Germany’s top security officials of an increased threat from Islamic extremists.

Anyone got any more info?

Suspected bomb bound for Germany on Air Berlin flight intercepted in Namibia

Police in Windhoek discovered the suspect device in a suitcase on Wednesday, which contained batteries wired to a working clock and a detonator, German authorities said in a statement.

The bag was about to be loaded onto an LTU/Air Berlin flight going to Munich.

Authorities were investigating whether the device could have exploded, but an Air Berlin spokeswoman, Sabine Teller, told The Associated Press that no explosives were found.

Wow! I was talking to a middle level government official from Namibia a few weeks ago. They were saying that they had advantages, because of the lack of islamic wierdos, over other african countries like nigeria. Clearly not. :(

Perhaps it was a test to see if it could get past security. Good job it was found, but now they’ll just rethink their plans and we’ll have to look out for something else.
