So, planning on a golfing adventure with a mate in about 6 weeks time and have been looking at golf travel bags.

Any suggestions from resident travelling golfers? Should I go with a hard or soft case? Personal recommendations?

So far I am liking a soft case from Maxfli, which will hold my bag and all associate gear, but also has additional storage for other clothing etc.

Aiming to travel with just the bag, and a carryon... for a 10 day trip... only flights to and from destination, no internal flights.

Thanks in advance!

Terrence.

I've always used soft cases. Sometimes put clothes or golf towel around woods to fill up that area, dont want a driver or 3 wood to break at the neck of the shaft (about the only place damage to clubs can be done).

Have taking my all over the world, never had any issues.
Great for coming home, dump all my laundry in golf bag, can pack in minutes!

Cheers

I've got the Club Glove Last Bag. It is great. Offers excellent protection, and is big enough to carry other stuff. I just take it and carry on, and anything that won't fit in carry on I put in the bag.

I have been taking my golf clubs to Thailand for the past 5 years and I just take them along in the golf bag.

The bag has been damaged once or twice but I have claimed it back from the airline. The other thing that damages is the cover over the clubs. It starts to get holes in it. No damage to clubs at all.

A big consideration for me though is the weight. I travel with golf clubs and suitcase and all up ~30kgs. When I have gone with SQ I have had to keep the weight down to ~22kgs so keep the golf bag as light as possible. At the moment my golf bag with 14 clubs is ~11kgs.

I put a $5 broomstick in the bag which is longer than the driver(which I rarely take anyhow) and clothes to pad around that.

This way nothing can break

Ended up going with a Maxfli, padded, wheeled bag... Weighed it yesterday with the clubs/bag in the travel bag and it was only 13kg...

Seems pretty good...
