Weekends you need to book.Really jumping by all reports.

Went to our favourite Italian on Wednesday night-Cala Luna,Maroochydore.Dinner was good but sad news.Rita and Osvaldo are setting up home in Sardinia.Sold the restaurant 2 weeks ago.
A week before that we went there with friends.thought it different that over the night Rita told us her life history. Was likely saying good bye.

Lunch on Thursday we went to Little Humid,Noosaville to celebrate a significant birthday for Mrsdrron's sister.Wonderful food with great service.
The 4 women decided to have 2 entrees each and shared 3 sides as well.I had the Pork belly entree and a main-duck salad.
So to the food.

My sister had the fish and chips-dory and very nice.Mrsdrron had the entree sized scallops and prawns.

I had the roast pork belly.A huge serve.meat a little overdone but that meant the crackling was perfect so I didn't mind.

Reasonably priced,good service.Recommended.

For those of you who read my Trip Reports you may guess I love my food. From Street food in Bangkok to restaurants in the World's top 50.When I am home we have 3 restaurants that are our staples.
First-Stillwater
Japanese.
38 Duporth Ave,Maroochydore.
Nobu the Sushi master and Yuki front of house.
We always have the Salmon Sahimi.Mrsdrron loves the Sukiyaki.Myself the Waygu beef with Ponzu sauce.Often though we will share several of their entrees.
We have noticed Mr.Wakuda partake of their food.
Usual cost-$120 for 2 with a bottle of wine.
Amex and DC without surcharge.

Second-Cala Luna.
Italian.
4 Aerodrome Rd.,Maroochydore.
Osvaldo in the kitchen and the irrepressible Rita front of house.
Family Italian with flair. The Duck canneloni is a favourite.
Usual cost-$100-120 with wine for 2.
MC and Visa only.

Third-Bridge Seafoods.
209 Brisbane road,Mooloolaba.
Our Fish and chip shop.Dine by the Mooloolah river.Trawlers at the door.BYO.

Those 3 restaurants in your post above have either closed down ( Stillwater) or changed hands Cala Luna & Bridge Seafoods = and we no longer recommend them.

We’ve been fans of Gusto at Noosaville for a number of years. Was there in February and were still same people and still good. Have their cookbook as well! :)

The Savvy Squire at the wharf at Mooloolaba is good for pub food, steaks, calamari, fish etc and beers. Nice flights of different beers.

Also went to Maleny pub for lunch. Worst t-bone I’ve ever half eaten. I even took it back and they cooked another which was equally bad. Stunned how a country pub can have such bad steaks?

One of our new favourites in Noosa - Miss Moneypennys.Went there for our Anniversary lunch.
Started by sharing the pork belly skewers.Very nice.
1604693040154.jpeg.1604693087586.jpeg.

Mrsdrron then had the scallops and waygu carpaccio. Both excellent.
1604693182023.jpeg.1604693207978.jpeg.

Whilst I had the kingfish cerviche and ricotta gnocchi with mushrooms.Again both excellent.
1604693299607.jpeg.1604693323147.jpeg.

And a new one featured on Gardening Australia.Farmrak fish and chip shop at Sippy Downs.
They have a hydroponics set up a little further north so their fish and chips are served with salads. They also do tempura veggies. These are both very nice but it is about the fish and chips. They are also good and not overcooked.Mrsdrron had the barramundi value pack and I the hoki value pack.Mrsdrron's fish was panko crumbed and mine a tempura batter.

And especially big pics for the benefit of @tgh

Worth a try if you are nearby. Not far from the Uni.

Another one where we had lunch yesterday -Market Place,Maroochydore.Did take photos but took them with my old phone and bought a new phone on the way home and hadn't downloaded the pics.

Food was quite good.Mrsdrron had the corn chowder with scallops then Mooloolaba garlic prawns.both were very nice.

I had the smoked quail with just a slight touch of chilli -beautiful.Then a veal, pork and tomato ragout over rigatoni.Just the thing for a miserable rainy day.

Only one problem.the whole area is a construction zone and a walk to parking. We were lucky getting a spot close as there are very few close by.

The restaurant has been sold and will be reopening soon as an Asian fusion restaurant.

Another very good restaurant has opened just a km walk from home. I think it will become a regular place for a late lunch for us. Only open a month but already need to book unless you arrive about 1400.
Dishes shared with 4 people.

I find every Italian place on the coast to be bland and uninspiring. Might have to give it a go.

I'm enjoying Riba Kai in Maroochydoore for breakfast/brunch lately. I haven't actually eaten off their main menu yet, because they always have great specials which have suckered me in. And they have punny names - so I can't go past it.

A new one for us tonight. Paradise rum at Warana. It is a distillery making rum, gin and vodka. I started with their coconut vodka on the rocks and enjoyed it. Now to the food.
We shared a calamari with pineapple and chilli mayo which was nice.
AB5E8B20-5F7C-4429-A443-82DEE5084DA5.jpeg

Mrsdrron then had the mussels with frites and I had the lemongrass fish curry.

And our extras with rice for my curry.
B96AC17A-9D7E-4BC8-8545-63FECE65582A.jpeg

Mrsdrron enjoyed the mussels and my curry had a lovely taste though I would have loved a little more spice.
So good for a casual meal.

Went back to one of our old favourites. been at least 15 years since we had been. Basically since I started doing locums and hardly home. Not a long walk from home. The China Flute.

Though I would hardly rate it as gourmet and fine dining. We went with 2 friends and shared 4 dishes. First the menu.

IMG_1914.JPG
IMG_1917-001.JPG
IMG_1918-001.JPG

Mrsdrron had a Geisen SB and our friends bought this red from Mt.Etna. it was quite nice.
IMG_1915.JPG
IMG_1916.JPG

Next the food.

So we had 2 sizzling plates - garlic prawns and beef with pepper sauce.
IMG_1920.JPG
IMG_1922.JPG

And a mixed seafood in ginger and shallot sauce plus a beef and oyster sauce.
IMG_1919.JPG
IMG_1921.JPG

And a special fried rice plus a little dish of steamed rice.
IMG_1923.JPG

The beef was tender and the sauces not overpowering. The seafood was perfectly cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed the night,
It is on the Nicklin Way at Wurtulla.

I talk a lot about our favourite restaurant but have not posted about it on this thread. It is Nguyen Bros at Maroochydore in the Kon Tiki centre.
So first the menu.
IMG_1931.JPG
IMG_1932-001.JPG

And the wine list.
IMG_1930-001.JPG

Now Mrsdrron always has the same dish which is lemongrass beef with vermicelli salad.
IMG_1934-001.JPG

And some of the dishes I have had. Crispy pork with vermicelli salad, spicy chicken stir fry, beef in pepper sauce, barramundi steamed with ginger and shallot and eggplant and pork mince in XO sauce which is my favourite.
