Sunshine Coast Restaurants.

Tried another new one for us tonight-Daisys place on Steve Irwin Way virtually at the Caloundra turn off from the Bruce Highway-used to be the old Rustic Cabin.
Had a real makeover.Food very good.Had the days special-seafood chowder-for entree-one of the best chowders I have ever had.A thai style sticky pork salad for mains. Now i really wouldn't call it Thai style but the name is not important-it was delicious.
other meals around the table included a fillet steak, salmon, calamari and a duck and mushroom risotto. All said they were good.
With 2 bottles of Leeuwin Estate siblings shiraz,a couple of glasses of Sav blanc and 2 plates of garlic bread for the table came to $53 a head.Thought that was good value.

I will try to follow up with something more concrete but we had the seafood banquet at Embassy XO and it was superb. Easily my best meal of 2012 ( and if pushed 2011, 2010).
Great service and a wicked finish of Chilli chocolate steamed buns.
The walk along the beach to the end of Seaview Terrace made the night complete :)

Finally, got around to putting the feet under a table for lunch today.

Weekend lunch is limited to Yum Cha - pretty good, the wagyu dumplings are very tasty. The other pick of the bunch was the deep fried ice cream with raspberry jam chilli.

Good enough to head back for Mothers Day lunch banquet next Sunday.

didn't hear any complaints.

We dined at Stillwater Maroochydore with friends last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The tempura prawns were magnificent...sweet, moist and delicate.
The food is delicious, I can certainly recommend this Japanese restaurant.
Not sure I should have had a large sake though

That is one of the places that keeps getting busier and busier every time we drive past.

I went to Reserve up near Maleny a week and a bit ago for dinner and very nice.

Home - Reserve Restaurant Cellar - Maleny Sunshine Coast Hinterland

For breakfast The Moorings at Golden Beach is great but not sure if it is still as good as it was as last time we there many staff changes.

My parents took me here during a recent visit:

http://www.chezclaude.com.au/

Small local French restaurant in Woombye. As someone who usually dines at top Sydney and Melbourne restaurants, I was extremely impressed with both the quality and (certainly) the value. I wasn't expecting that at all. I think 3 courses were about $38 and their house wine (red) was excellent!

I'm looking forward to trying some more local places when I next visit them.

Finally got to try Daisy's Place for lunch today.......very nice - thanks drron:D

We were a party of 10 (6 adults/4 kids) and the bill came in just under $530.......absolutely spot on with your $53 a head:shock: Very good value & quite spooky that you picked it down to the dollar.

Where / how do you rate Spirit House? A little further away, but presumably worth the trip sporadically?

Personally I used to make the effort to drive from BNE , book in to the Sheraton and do dinner at the spirit house. However the last couple of visits have revealed them as resting on their laurels. They have become a legend in their own mind and ( for me) it's not there anymore.
I have probably eaten my last meal there

It is I, Leclerc !

Today it was a long Christmas lunch at Wasabi,Noosa.Fabulous food.9 of us and had an 11 course extravaganza ashed down with Cloudy bay SB and a very nice pinot noir.
started with an extra,a cold japanese soup with daikon.Very refreshing.this was followed by Miso with local spanner crab, yummy.

Huge call - considering the amount of traveling & lovely restaurants that you two frequent:cool:

Wasabi is one of our favourites......therefore, can understand.

We where speaking at the BNE drinks on Tuesday night and we mentioned we should do a dinner somewhere on the coast area.

drron would be my guide on great meals all over the coast.

I spend most of my time down Caloundra end and hinterland area as well.

Happy to organise something in the Maleny area.

Friday night went to Lot104 on the Esplanade Maroochydore with friends-didn't take my camera.
9 of us shared their "share plates".Good quality food.best were the calamari(some of the best I have ever had) and the pork belly-tasty,tender and was definitely worth seconds.
We will be back.

I noticed that Pitchfork Restaurant - Home received a good write up in the SundayMail and they are closing for renovations until 18 June.

Perhaps we should have an AFF gathering after they reopen, to check out the menu and wine list
