Good evening all,

As a Western Sydney Wanderers member, I'm doing a day trip from SYD to BNE tomorrow to stand shoulder to shoulder with 10-12,000 of my adopted brothers & sisters at the A-League Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium. Because I was too indecisive about attending until Thursday this week, wasn't able to book reasonable QF flight SYD-BNE, so I was only left with the option of flying Jetrats SYD-OOL, then training it to Roma St station. And because this is AFF, yes, I did consider going via MEL, CBR, ADL & even CNS, but unfortunately no cigar (I now have a greater appreciation of what the Freo supporters went through trying to get to MEL last September.). Fortunately, managed to book QF557 (763) BNE-SYD departing 8:25pm tomorrow night.

With a full house tomorrow, will a taxi or the AirTrain (Roma St) be the quickest way to get to BNE DOM after the game? Not just the time consideration, but also the ability to find a taxi at Suncorp?

If the grand final is decided in the regulation 90 min (~6:00pm), I'm safe. If the match goes to extra time (~6:45pm) &, heaven forbid, penalty shootout (~7:00pm), it's going to be very tight.

Any thoughts &/or suggestions greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Taxi would be quicker I assume once your out of the Milton area and you get onto the Inner City Bypass/Airport Link. Have no idea where you'd find a taxi rank, I have always caught a bus out of Suncorp.... Walk to Roma St Station then take a taxi? Sure you could look it up where a taxi rank would be

Just also be mindful of Airtrain timetables, runs only 1/2 hour (Pathetic, yea. If it was abit more regular the price wouldn't hurt so much). Taxi maybe be the safe option too timing wise..,,

Enjoy the game :) I'm in SYD myself tomorrow on a day trip with personal matters.... Maybe I should go to bed now, 4 hours sleep then I'm up to catch my 7am flight out of OOL.....

Tricky. Milton area traffic after a big game can be gridlocked. Trains are little better from milton station, walk to Roma St and pick up the airtrain? Is about a 15min brisk walk under normal conditions from the fat side of the stadium to Roma St so I would think that is the safest option. If you see a cab on the way, grab it.

I would follow the crowd into the city and there is a Taxi rank on George St.

IMHO that could be quicker if time is very tight.

If you have a few minutes spare go to Roma St Station and check train times and get the air train and will be cheaper by app $30 to $40.

I would do on line check in for your flight so if it is tight you have got a few spare minutes.

Depends when you leave - I did the same thing last year, albeit with a smaller crowd. My brother and I knew how long the walk was to the station so made sure we left at a certain time. The airport train really needs to go every 15 minutes but it was the quickest way to get there. But if we missed it, a wait of 20-25 minutes would have probably resulted us in trying for a taxi

Suncorp Stadium just get people out very quickly after games and very efficiently IMHO

The 7.27 Roma St departure is your drop dead time, that means leaving Suncorp at 7.10 and walking would work. Cabs could be troublesome to get in the vicinity.

I take a cab from Milton to Airport every week, but not from the stadium. The area can get gridlocked around the stadium; but once you get to the tunnel entry, it is a clear run and you can be at the airport in under 20 minutes. The cost of the taxi is about $55 including cabcharge surcharge and tolls. What I do is use Go Catch to get a cab as I've found booking a cab through the normal numbers to be unreliable as well as take a lot more time for a cab to arrive. With Go Catch, I'd suggest requesting a cab about 10 minutes before you want it and so far, they have always come for an Airport fare.
