Mind you, to be fair, I've had a similar offer in QF First, on more than one occasion.

Total indulgence, while Nero fiddles? :)

I'm not sure how you get a double bed in QF First?

Or do you mean they let you use 2 different seats over the course of the flight?

Just returned from JFK - SIN on suites and then on to brisbane with their old J seats. Travelling with family (thanks to AFF alerting us to F saver availability on SQ- 1 saver , 1 stndrd) booked 2C&D. Flight from frankfurt to sin 3C & D were empty as well - Mrs Mistado and baby mistado used that for their double bed kept 2C&D for meals and 2A as a single bed for myself- got to experience TPR in spore as well. All in all an excellent at to spend 24 hrs of flying back home...ehmm minus J class to brisbane but just another first world problem i will live with.

Mistado

How old is your baby?

Required a bassinette ?

Did SQ charge points for babies ?

I have no idea there.

Thanks

In trouble with Mrs D!!
Just told her we are booked in row A, seats 1 and 2. She wants us to be together in C & D but I really want a window seat.
What is the etiquette when travelling with partner? Do we really have to travel side by side?
This never was a problem before AFF, as we only flew Y!

As a couple I would go for 3 C/D or 2 C/D...

Window seats in Suites on SQ 388s are over-rated. Yes, you do get more natural light and can control when you close the blinds, but the windows are actually further away than you realise given the size of the suite and curvature of the aircraft. Plus most of the time you only look out the window during take off or landing. The rest of the flight the window shades are pulled...

If you really want a window I would suggest row 3 or 4, as row 2 only gets 2 windows (not the 3 as in other rows). Row 1 has the advantage of being private / secluded, but the F cabin is normally half empty and fairly quiet, so its a bit pointless.

Forget etiquette Duffa - you need to be more concerned with family warfare I would suggest – no chance I would ever get away with that one with Cruiserette.

For couples – 2C and D / 3C and D are the only pairings. Suites are big – sit side by side in C and D and outstretch arms and you still may not be able to touch fingers – seats are way apart.

BUT – 1A and 2A are like separate cells – maybe that will suit you – but there will be zero visibility between the 2 of you let alone any interaction.

Depending on pax in Suites – I have been onboard when only 1 other pax – you could have free run of it. But I have also been on board with 9 Suites occupied (one family of six) – I had 3C and 3D was still vacant.

IMHO – just save any potential aggravation and choose 3C and D – if 3/4A and 3/4F vacant – both of you can still enjoy some window time – as I say – MHO – YMMV.

Hi Penegal,
Tried posting earlier but don't think it "took". Apologies if this is a double post.
Yes, of course I was following the discussion of using one place for sleeping and one for dining and relaxing. Why? Have you discovered the secret QF 380 double bed? :) If so, you will tell us? :)

Off topic - but just on the way home the long way round with Emirates in Suites, SFO - DXB - PER... Got a redemption booking 4 hours out from departure which was nice... 192k points + $17.00

Hard product much of muchness, but have to say the service I experienced was a looong way behind SQ First, SQ all the way!

Petermac123 thanks for doing a roadtest of Emirates. Doing a longcut like that could mean that you are ready for some Qantas JASAs in Australia where you work on the principle "why fly direct when you can connect".
Back on Suites with SQ it is about 8 weeks until we do that again and I remain hopeful that there are middle Suites so we can dine together and hold hands. We have always slept in the window Suite.
The way I figure it is if we cannot get two Saver Suites I book a Saver and then a Standard Suite to get to Heathrow so our driver only has one pick up.

No such thing...

I was confused as what you meant in an earlier post, but you have clarified.

FWIW, eating and sleeping in the same seat doesn't bother me much as I never eat and sleep at the same time. In fact I try not to lie down immediately after food... But if you want to spread out, why not :p

AFF folk - Cruiserette and myself have 2 x Suite Savers dep SYD SQ222 at 15:15 on 19/06 to SIN then F SIN-BCN.

At time of booking no 2 x Suite Saver availability ex MEL hence SYD booking – but now need to get from MEL to SYD morn 19/06.

Will be flying VA and then need to get to SQ F Lounge so what time would you good people suggest arr into SYD?

Thanks in anticipation.

The SQ lounge in SYD is neat, tidy and clean.

Some standard fruit coughtail and some sandwiches...

Quiet, calm and not luxurious...

Certainly it is no match for even the KrisFlyer J Lounge in SIN - let alone TPR which you are fond of.

If it were me, I would minimise transit time to stay at home !

So, if the aim is to spend time there, I'd suggest not to.

Thanks guys for your input - maybe I wasn't too clear.

It’s been like an eternity since I transferred SYD Dom to Int (MEL has a civilized terminal with both under 1 roof) – and Rita my SQ MEL g/f would kill me if I didn’t go make myself known to her SYD counterpart.

Yes legroom won’t be looking for eternity in SYD SQ F – maybe 1 hour max pre boarding – is that clearer?

I just booked HKG-SIN-SYD F all on A380 in late September using 63750 points. I was thinking of just "J"ing as it is already very good. But this one is too hard to resist as I have never done it before. I am "quietly excited" about this, and most likely only do it once.

My bookings is SQ861 - SQ231 with transit time of 5 hours and 35 minutes. I have waitlisted SQ221 as well.

Just want to know whether it is worth it to stay for a few hours in TPR? The reason is that if SQ221 clears then I can get to SYD earlier and transit time reduces to 1 hour 5 minutes. I have been to SQ SilverKris J lounge a few times but I really don't know whether I should hang around SIN for TPR experience.

TPR is nice, but not great. So I would not go out of my way to experience it again. I was underwhelmed when I used it.

Unfortunately it does not have any spa or massage treatments etc.

So essentially what it is, is an uncrowded lounge with big arm chairs.

It's only real plus is that you get restaurant quality food and service from an A la carte menu....plus an extensive wine and liquor choice. so food wise much better than the Krisflyer Lounge.

My assessment would be similar - good for a meal / drink / short relax, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to spend more than an hour or two.

Personally, it reminded me of The Wing (or is it The Pier? the new CX F Lounge in HKG anyway) - nice lounge, but no QF SYD/MEL F Lounge or TG BKK F Lounge.

FWIW Edison as others have posted TPR won't knock your socks off - but it is a nice adjunct to SQ F experience.

1hr 5mins connection will mean next to no time in TPR - these is never guarantee you will arr into T3 - sometimes you got 10 to 15 mins transfer to T3 to get to TPR - IMHO you should try it at least once.

I'd concur with this too - definitely worth trying if you've never been there, even if it's not the world's best lounge. Plenty of other stuff to do in Changi to keep you entertained for a 5.5 hour transit, too.
